Fabio Silva: 'I knew I wasn't ready for the Premier League - Porto pushed me to Wolves, I had no choice'
Fabio Silva made revelations about his transfer from Porto to Wolves in 2020.
Early September 2020 and Wolves decide to break their transfer record at the time, spending 40 million euros to acquire another Portuguese. His name, Fabio Silva, one of the most talented footballers at that time, just 18 years old.
Except that the sequel was not similar. After a difficult two years, with just seven goals in 65 appearances came successive loans to Anderlecht, Eindhoven and Rangers, where the young forward did not fare badly.
But even if his contract with the "wolves" ends in two years, Silva does not wish to continue with them. And speaking to Sport Bible, he explained why...
As he said, recalling the summer of 2020, "I had training in Porto in the morning, then I was having dinner with my family and my agent took me to tell me that the next day we were going to England.
I was pushed to Wolves, I had no choice. Maybe other teams were better for me. A league with more patience and time.
They told me that if I didn't go to Wolves, I wouldn't play in Porto's first team. I was only 18 when they decided to give 40 million euros for me. Porto were not in good financial shape but my opinion didn't count. They picked me up, told me I was flying the next day and that was it.
Wolves was not the best choice for me then. I needed to be with my family, to play more in my hometown. I went to the best league in the world and the pressure was great.
I remember standing there thinking I'm not ready for this. I want more time. Nothing was in my control.
These days I try to relax with my family and friends but then I want to try to find another team. I don't know if it will be a transfer or another loan, but in the team everyone knows my thoughts."

Αρχές Σεπτεμβρίου 2020 και η Γουλβς αποφασίζει να σπάσει το τότε μεταγραφικό της ρεκόρ, δαπανώντας 40 εκατομμύρια ευρώ για να αποκτήσει έναν ακόμα Πορτογάλο. Το όνομα αυτού, Φάμπιο Σίλβα, ένας από τους πιο ταλαντούχους ποδοσφαιριστές εκείνη την εποχή, μόλις στα 18 του χρόνια.
Μόνο που η συνέχεια δεν ήταν ανάλογη. Μετά από μία δύσκολη διετία, με μόλις επτά γκολ σε 65 συμμετοχές ήρθαν οι αλλεπάλληλοι δανεισμοί σε Άντερλεχτ, Αϊντχόφεν και Ρέιντζερς, όπου ο νεαρός φορ δεν τα πήγε άσχημα.
Ακόμα όμως κι αν το συμβόλαιό του με τους «λύκους» να ολοκληρώνεται σε δύο χρόνια, ο Σίλβα δεν επιθυμεί να συνεχίσει σε αυτούς. Και μιλώντας στο Sport Bible, εξήγησε τους λόγους...
Όπως είπε, ενθυμούμενος το καλοκαίρι του 2020, «είχα προπόνηση στην Πόρτο το πρωί, μετά ήμουν για φαγητό με τους δικούς μου και με πήρε ο ατζέντης μου να μου πει ότι την επόμενη μέρα θα πηγαίναμε στην Αγγλία.
Με έσπρωξαν προς τη Γουλβς, δεν είχα επιλογή. Ίσως άλλες ομάδες να ήταν καλύτερες για μένα. Ένα πρωτάθλημα με περισσότερη υπομονή και χρόνο.
Μου είπαν ότι αν δεν πάω στη Γουλβς, δεν θα έπαιζα στην πρώτη ομάδα της Πόρτο. Ήμουν μόλις 18 όταν αποφάσισαν να δώσουν 40 εκατ. ευρώ για μένα. Η Πόρτο δεν ήταν σε καλή οικονομική κατάσταση αλλά η άποψή μου δεν μετρούσε. Με πήραν, μου είπαν ότι την επόμενη μέρα πετούσα και αυτό ήταν.
Η Γουλβς δεν ήταν η καλύτερη επιλογή για μένα τότε. Είχα ανάγκη να είμαι με την οικογένειά μου, να παίξω κι άλλο στην πατρίδα μου. Πήγα στο καλύτερο πρωτάθλημα στον κόσμο και η πίεση ήταν μεγάλη.
Θυμάμαι πως στεκόμουν και σκεφτόμουν πως δεν είμαι έτοιμος για εδώ. Θέλω κι άλλο χρόνο. Τίποτα δεν ήταν στον έλεγχό μου.
Αυτές τις μέρες προσπαθώ να χαλαρώσω με την οικογένειά μου και τους φίλους μου αλλά στη συνέχεια θέλω να προσπαθήσω να βρω μια άλλη ομάδα. Δεν ξέρω αν θα είναι μεταγραφή ή ακόμα ένας δανεισμός αλλά στην ομάδα όλοι ξέρουν τις σκέψεις μου».
