Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is in the second round of the Miami Open with a bye, will face Denis Shapovalov. The Canadian defeated Luciano Darderi 6-3, 7-6, 6-4 and got the ticket for the second round of the American tournament, where he will face the Greek tennis player.

The first set started excellently for Shapovalov, who "broke" the opponent's serve and then took two games (2-0). Darderi held his serve, but received another break from the Canadian in the 7th game (5-2) which he immediately took back in the next game (5-3). Of course, the Italian was unable to hold his serve in the 9th game, with Shapovalov making the most of his first break point and taking the lead in the sets.

The second set was more competitive. The two tennis players raised their statistics in the first serves and without accepting a break they reached the set in the tie-break. There, Darderi started perfectly, making a mini break on Shapovalov's second serve (3-1). The Canadian managed to get back the mini break, leveling at 3-3. However, Darderi went on a 4-0 run to make it 7-3 and 7-6|3| sent the match to a third set.

In the third set, Denis Shapovalov immediately broke in the third game (3-1), which was enough for the Canadian until the end of the match. The Italian did not manage to get a reaction, consequently losing the set 6-4 and being eliminated from the rest of the tournament.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς έμαθε τον αντίπαλο του στον δεύτερο γύρο του Miami Open, με τον Ντένις Σαποβάλοφ να είναι το πρώτο... εμπόδιο του Έλληανα τενίστας μετά την επικράτησή του επί του Λουτσιάνο Νταρντέρι με 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στον δεύτερο γύρο του Miami Open περνώντας με bye, θα βρεθεί αντιμέτωπος με τον Ντένις Σαποβάλοφ. Ο Καναδός επικράτησε του Λουτσιάνο Νταρντέρι με 6-3, 7-6, 6-4 και πήρε το εισιτήριο για τον δεύτερο γύρο του αμερικανικού τουρνουά, όπου θα βρεθεί απέναντι στον Έλληνα τενίστα.

Το πρώτο σετ ξεκίνησε εξαιρετικά για τον Σαποβάλοφ, ο οποίος «έσπασε» το σερβίς του αντιπάλου παίρνοντας στη συνέχεια απόσταση δύο games (2-0). Ο Νταρντέρι κράτησε το σερβίς του, αλλά δέχθηκε ακόμα ένα break από τον Καναδό στο 7ο game (5-2) το οποίο πήρε άμεσα πίσω στο αμέσως επόμενο game (5-3). Βέβαια, ο Ιταλός δεν κατάφερε να κρατήσει το σερβίς του στο 9ο game, με τον Σαποβάλοφ να εκμεταλλεύεται στο μέγιστο το πρώτο του break point και να παίρνει το προβάδισμα στα σετ.

Το δεύτερο σετ ήταν πιο ανταγωνιστικό. Οι δύο τενίστες ανέβασαν το στατιστικό τους στα πρώτα σερβίς και χωρίς να δεχθούν break έφτασαν το σετ στο tie-break. Εκεί ο Νταρντέρι ξεκίνησε ιδανικά, κάνοντας mini break στο δεύτερο σερβίς του Σαποβάλοφ (3-1). Ο Καναδός κατάφερε να πάρει πίσω το mini break, ισοφαρίζοντας σε 3-3. Ωστόσο, ο Νταρντέρι με σερί 4-0 έκανε το 7-3 και με 7-6|3| έστειλε τον αγώνα σε τρίτο σετ.

Στο τρίτο σετ, ο Ντένις Σαποβάλοφ έκανε άμεσα το break στο τρίτο game (3-1), το οποίο ήταν αρκετό για τον Καναδό έως το τέλος της αναμέτρησης. Ο Ιταλός δεν κατάφερε να βγάλει αντίδραση με συνέπεια να χάσει το σετ με 6-4 και να γνωρίσει τον αποκλεισμό από τη συνέχεια του τουρνουά.
