The race

Prometheus was nervous and careless in the first period, which was reflected in the (7) errors he had. Ο Προμηθέας έκανε συνεχόμενα λάθη στην πρώτη περίοδο, έδωσε το δικαίωμα στη Ντιζόν να χτίσει ένα καλό προβάδισμα και κάπως έτσι να υποχρεώσει την ομάδα του Ηλία Παπαθεοδώρου σε ήττα (88-80) για το Basketball Champions League.

Το αήττητο του Προμηθέα Πάτρας στο Basketball Champions League ολοκληρώθηκε το βράδυ της Τρίτης 14 Νοεμβρίου, επί γαλλικού εδάφους. Η ομάδα του Ηλία Παπαθεοδώρου πλήρωσε τα πολλά λάθη (ιδίως στην πρώτη περίοδο) και το γεγονός πως αυτά έδωσαν επιθετικό ρυθμό στη Ντιζόν, η οποία έφτασε στην τελική επικράτηση (88-80) και το 3/3 στον όμιλο.

Μία νίκη πίσω πλέον η ελληνική ομάδα, που καλείται να κερδίσει και, ταυτόχρονα, να καλύψει τη διαφορά στο παιχνίδι του "Δημήτρης Τόφαλος" στον β' γύρο ώστε να διεκδικήσει μέχρι τέλους την πρωτιά και την απευθείας πρόκριση στους "16" του Basketball Champions League.

Ο αγώνας

Ο Προμηθέας ήταν νευρικός και επιπόλαιος στην πρώτη περίοδο, γεγονός που αποτυπώθηκε στα λάθη (7) που είχε. Η Ντιζόν έσπευσε να εκμεταλλευτεί την περίσταση για να πάρει το προβάδισμα και να φτάσει στο +5 (24-19) με την ολοκλήρωση του πρώτου δεκαλέπτου, στο οποίο σκόραρε κατά βάση μετά από τα λάθη των παικτών του Ηλία Παπαθεοδώρου.

Όσο περνούσε η ώρα, βέβαια, οι φιλοξενούμενοι περιόριζαν τη ζημιά στο κομμάτι της δημιουργίας, με τον Κάμερον Ρέινολντς, τον Χάντερ Χέιλ και τον Κρις Κόφι να κάνουν ένα βήμα μπροστά. Οι τρεις τους αποτέλεσαν μάλιστα την αιτία για το μίνι σερί του Προμηθέα και το "Χ" (39-39) στο 1'20'' για το φινάλε της δεύτερης περιόδου. Στα εναπομείναντα δευτερόλεπτα όμως, η μάστιγα των λαθών επέστρεψε, με τη Ντιζόν να τρέχουν ένα δικό τους μικρό σερί και να πηγαίνουν στα αποδυτήρια, όντες στο +6 (45-39).

Στο δεύτερο μέρος, η ουσία του πράγματος δεν άλλαξε. Ιδίως από την στιγμή που ο Ντέιβιντ Χόλστον βρήκε ρυθμό και σκόραρε κατά ριπάς. Αν και μικρός στο δέμας, ο πόιντ γκαρντ της γαλλικής ομάδας έκανε ό,τι ήθελε στο μπροστινό μέρος του παρκέ και αποτέλεσε την αιτία για να ξεμακρύνει ακόμη περισσότερο η Ντιζόν, με αποκορύφωμα το +13 (71-58) του 30ού λεπτού.

Από εκεί και πέρα, το μόνο που έδειχνε να απασχολεί ήταν η τελική διαφορά της ήττας. Βλέπετε, όσα πράγματα κι αν δοκίμασε ο Ηλίας Παπαθεοδώρου, στη διάρκεια της τέταρτης περιόδου, η διαφορά δεν έπεσε τόσο ώστε να πιστέψει ο Προμηθέας πως μπορεί να κάνει την ανατροπή.

Έτσι, ήρθε η πρώτη ήττα στη φάση των ομίλων του Basketball Champions League για την αχαϊκή ομάδα, η οποία σε δύο βδομάδες έχει έναν πρόωρο τελικό στο πρόγραμμα, με αντίπαλο τη Ρίτας Βίλνιους στη Λιθουανία.
