Having started his football career with Masia, Romeu made just two official appearances for Barcelona's first team before leaving for Chelsea in the summer of 2011. He made a total of 33 appearances for the Londoners, playing as on loan at Valencia and Stuttgart.
In 2015, he transferred to Southampton for 7 million euros, while last summer he returned to Spain to wear the jersey of Girona, with which he "counted" 33 appearances and 2 goals.

Έχοντας ξεκινήσει την ποδοσφαιρική του καριέρα από τη «Μασία», ο Ρομέου αγωνίστηκε μόλις σε δύο επίσημα παιχνίδια με την πρώτη ομάδα της Μπαρτσελόνα, πριν αποχωρήσει για λογαριασμό της Τσέλσι, το καλοκαίρι του 2011. Με τους Λονδρέζους πραγματοποίησε συνολικά 33 εμφανίσεις, ενώ αγωνίστηκε ως δανεικός σε Βαλένθια και Στουτγκάρδη.
Το 2015 μεταγράφηκε στη Σαουθάμπτον έναντι 7 εκατ. ευρώ, ενώ το περασμένο καλοκαίρι επέστρεψε στην Ισπανία για να φορέσει τη φανέλα της Τζιρόνα, με την οποία «μέτρησε» 33 εμφανίσεις και 2 γκολ.
