The favorite of Stefanos Tsitsipas appeared in the 9th game of the 5th set, taking a place next to Apostolos Tsitsipas and watched the climax of the match that lasted three hours and 55 minutes.

Sluggish Tsitsipas, lost the first set

Tim started the match with a love game, but Stefanos easily equalized with an excellent first serve. In a typical image, the Austrian marked Tsitsipas' backhand on the serve and reached 2-1 easily.

He came back strongly for 1-1

Tsitsipas started with an easy 1-0 in the second set, with his opponent easily holding his serve. The picture was similar to that of the first set, as Tsitsipas kept his service game with good serves, while Thiem did the same, with the Greek tennis player struggling with his poor returns.

At 3-3 with Stefanos on serve, Tim lost for a... thousandth of a challenge and with aces Tsitsipas reached 4-3. There came the interruption due to rain, with the two players going to the locker room.

When the players returned to the court after more than 24 hours, Tom equalized at 4-4, Tsitsipas led 5-4, lost a set point at 30-40 of the 10th game, with the set being decided in a tie break. There Tsitsipas reached 6-0 and won the set 7-6(1).

A break brought dominance and 2-1

Thiem easily took the opening game in the 3rd set, with Tsitsipas answering for 1-1. The 3rd game took 10 minutes to complete, with Tsitsipas leading 0-40, wasting a total of five break chances, with Thiem holding on for 2-1.

The same did not happen in the 5th game, with Tsitsipas reaching 30-40, this time breaking for 3-2 and then dominating the set and with individual points 12-2 to win the set with 6 -2.

Tsitsipas gave Tim hope and 2-2

Stefanos Tsitsipas responded with two consecutive love games, with the 3rd set balanced, but as long as Thiem held his serve, his chances of taking the match to a 3rd set increased.

Somehow the Austrian took the set at 6-5, putting the pressure on Tsitsipas and securing the tie break. Tsitsipas made it 6-6 and sent the set to extra time.

There, Tim was the first to reach a mini break for 4-2, he reached 6-3 and three set points, Tsistipas serving "erased" the two, with Tim winning the set 7-6(5) and all to be judged in the 5th.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς χρειάστηκε το super tie break για να κάμψει την αντίσταση του Ντομινίκ Τιμ με 3-6, 7-6(1), 2-6, 6-7(5), 7-6(8) και να προκριθεί στον 2ο γύρο του Wimbledon.

Μια πρόκριση που επετεύχθη μπροστά στα μάτια της Πάουολα Μπαντόσα. Η Ισπανίδε βρέθηκε στο court 2 στο τελευταίο κομμάτι του αγώνα, καθώς είχε ολοκληρώσει νικηφόρα τον δικό της αγώνα στο court 15.

H αγαπημένη του Στέφανου Τσιτσιπά εμφανίστηκε στο 9ο γκέιμ του 5ου σετ, παίρνοντας θέση δίπλα στον Απόστολο Τσιτσιπά και παρακολούθησε την κορύφωση του αγώνα που είχε διάρκεια τρεις ώρες και 55 λεπτά.

Υποτονικός Τσιτσιπάς, έχασε το πρώτο σετ

Με love game άρχισε το ματς ο Τιμ, αλλά με εξαιρετικό πρώτο σερβίς ο Στέφανος ισοφάρισε εύκολα. Σε μία συνήθη εικόνα ο Αυστριακός σημάδεψε στο σερβίς το μπάκχαντ του Τσιτσιπά και έφτασε στο 2-1 εύκολα.

Με slice, το οποίο τελευταία δεν χρησιμοποιεί συχνά, ο Τσιτσιπάς ισοφάρισε με love game, όμως και πάλι ο αντίπαλός του σέρβιρε καλά και διατήρησε εύκολα το προβάδισμα στο σετ.

Ο Τιμ έφτασε σε δύο break point στη συνέχεια και με επιστροφή winner (κακή εκτίμηση του Στέφανου που πήγε να ανέβει στο φιλέ), έκανε το 4-2 και με love game στο 5-2 πολύ εύκολα.

Ο Στέφανος μετά από μία 3λεπτη διακοπή λόγω… ψιχάλας, μείωσε σε 5-3, αλλά ο Τιμ έκλεισε το σετ με λάθος του Τσιτσιπά.

Ο Τσιτσιπάς έκλεισε το σετ με 13-5 αβίαστα λάθη, 0-4 άσους, 7-11 winners και μόλις 4 πόντους κερδισμένους στο σερβίς του αντιπάλου του.

Επέστρεψε δυνανμικά για το 1-1

Ο Τσιτσιπάς ξεκίνησε με εύκολο 1-0 στο δεύτερο σετ, με τον αντίπαλό του να κρατά εύκολα το σερβίς του. Η εικόνα ήταν παρόμοια με αυτή του πρώτου σετ, καθώς ο μεν Τσιτσιπάς κρατούσε το service game του με καλά σερβίς, ενώ ο Τιμ έκανε το ίδιο, με τον Ελληνα τενίστα να προβληματίζει με τις κακές επιστροφές του.

Στο 3-3 με τον Στέφανο στο σερβίς, ο Τιμ έχασε για ένα… χιλιοστό ένα challenge και με άσους ο Τσιτσιπάς έφτασε στο 4-3. Εκεί ήρθε και η διακοπή λόγω βροχής, με τους δύο παίκτες να πηγαίνουν στα αποδυτήρια.

Με την επιστροφή στο κορτ έπειτα από 24 και πλέον ώρες οι παίκτες, ο Τομ ισοφάρισε σε 4-4, ο Τσιτσιπάς προηγήθηκε 5-4, έχασε set point στο 30-40 του 10ου game, με το σετ να κρίνεται στο tie break. Εκεί ο Τσιτσιπάς έφθασε στο 6-0 και πήρε το σετ με 7-6(1).

Ενα break έφερε την κυριαρχία και το 2-1

Ο Τιμ με ευκολία πήρε το εναρκτήριο game στο 3ο σετ, με τον Τσιτσιπά να απαντά για το 1-1. Το 3ο γκέιμ χρειάστηκε 10 λεπτά για να ολοκληρωθεί, με τον Τσιτσιπά να προηγείται 0-40, συνολικά να σπαταλά πέντε ευκαιρίες για break, με τον Τιμ να αντέχει για το 2-1.

Δεν συνέβη το ίδιο στο 5ο game, με τον Τσιτσιπά να φθάνει στο 30-40, αυτή τη φορά να πετυχαίνει το break για το 3-2 και μετά να κυριαρχεί στο σετ και με επιμέρους 12-2 στους πόντους να κατακτά το σετ με 6-2.

Ο Τσιτσιπάς έδωσε ελπίδα στον Τιμ και 2-2

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς απάντησε με δύο διαδοχικά love games, με το 3ος σετ να είναι ισορροπημένο, όσο όμως ο Τιμ διατηρούσε το σερβίς του αύξανε και τις πιθανότητές του να οδηγήσει τον αγώνα σε 3ο σετ.

Κάπως έτσι ο αυστριακός οδήγησε το σετ στο 6-5, στέλνοντας την πίεση στον Τσιτσιπά και εξασφαλίζοντας το tie break. Ο Τσιτσιπάς έκανε το 6-6 και έστειλε το σετ στην έξτρα διαδικασία.

Εκεί ο Τιμ έφθασε πρώτος σε mini break για το 4-2, έφθασε στο 6-3 και σε τρία set points, ο Τσιστιπάς σερβίροντας «έσβησε» τα δύο, με τον Τιμ να κατακτά το σετ με 7-6(5) και όλα να κρίνονται στο 5ο.
