The Greek champion entered the first set strongly, took the first three games and with two breaks celebrated her victory with 6-2.

In the sixth game, the Belarusian fought it. Maria took a two-point lead, but Sasnovich tied it. After a double fault by the Greek champion, the Belarusian took the advantage for a break, but Maria erased it, as did Sasnovich afterwards with the game point. Finally, Sakkari took the game and made it 4-1.

Then Sasnovich reduced, but with a break again Sakkari took the first set.

With the same determination, the world No. 8 entered the second set as well, taking three games in a row in a repeat of the first set.

The Belorussian tennis player was temporarily reduced, but Maria with three games in a row locked the qualification to the 3rd round. The opponent in the quarterfinals of the tournament will be Marketa Vodrusova, who prevailed earlier with a 2-0 set against Jules Niemeyer.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη (Νο8) προκρίθηκε άνετα στον τρίτο γύρο του Βερολίνου, καθώς επικράτησε της Λευκορωσίδας Αλεξάντρα Σάσνοβιτς (Νο70) με 2-0 σετ (6-2, 6-1).

Μία εύκολη ημέρα είχε η Μαρία Σάκκαρη την Πέμπτη (22/6), καθώς επιβλήθηκε άνετα της Λευκορωσίδας Αλεξάντρα Σάσνοβιτς (Νο70) με 2-0 σετ (6-2, 6-1).

Η Ελληνίδα πρωταθλήτρια μπήκε δυναμικά στο πρώτο σετ, πήρε τα πρώτα τρία game και με δύο break πανηγύρισε την κατάκτησή του με 6-2.

Στο έκτο game η Λευκορωσίδα το πάλεψε. Η Μαρία προηγήθηκε με δύο πόντους σερί, αλλά η Σάσνοβιτς ισοφάρισε. Μετά από διπλό λάθος της Ελληνίδας πρωταθλήτριας η Λευκορωσίδα πήρε το πλεονέκτημα για break, το οποίο όμως η Μαρία έσβησε, όπως έκανε στη συνέχεια κι η Σάσνοβιτς με το game point. Τελικά, η Σάκκαρη πήρε το game και έκανε το 4-1.

Στη συνέχεια μείωσε η Σάσνοβιτς, αλλά με break ξανά η Σάκκαρη πήρε το πρώτο σετ.

Με την ίδια αποφασιστικότητα μπήκε και στο δεύτερο σετ η Νο8 του κόσμου, παίρνοντας σε επανάληψη του πρώτου σετ τρία σερί games.

Η Λευκορωσίδα τενίστρια μείωσε προσωρινά, όμως η Μαρία με τρία σερί games κλείδωσε την πρόκριση στον 3ο γύρο. Αντίπαλός στα προημιτελικά του τουρνουά θα είναι η Μαρκέτα Βοντρούσοβα, που επικράτησε νωρίτερα με 2-0 σετ της Τζουλ Νιεμάιερ.
