Sakkari - Kornet 2-0: Atypical rematch and qualification to the "16" for Maria in Berlin

Maria Sakkari clearly better than last week in Nottingham, won 6-4, 6-2 against Kornet and continues in Berlin.

The Greek tennis player got an informal revenge for last week's defeat in Nottingham, winning with 2-0 sets (6-4, 6-2 in 1 hour and 46 minutes) and continues in the "16" of Berlin where she will play either Sajnovich , either with Azarenka.

The first set had quite an adventure, as Corne felt unwell, came back and from 1-5 down to 4-5, finding 4 break points for the tie! Sakkari, however, erased them and that was the key of the first set, since the Greek had 2/2 break points and her opponent 1/9.

In the second, she completely dominated, continued to wipe out the French's break points (Cornet had 2/15) and reached the next round of the tournament.

Sakkari 1-0 with a lot of... drama

Corne started the match impressively, winning the first game in two minutes and then reached a triple break point. However, despite not finding a first serve, Sakkari with some rallies in the game, forced her opponent to make mistakes and with 5 consecutive points she equalized at 1-1.

Immediately after, Sakkari, finding good returns, marked the backhand of the French woman and found the break point, which she did not let go to waste and took the lead in the match.

The world No. 8 found a rhythm on her forehand and easily reached 3-1. Another break followed for Maria, with Corne showing that she was not feeling well and called a doctor where her blood pressure was measured.

After about 7-8 minutes of stoppage, the Frenchwoman returned to the match, but Sakkari with two good first serves at 30-30, reached a 5-1 advantage.

Korne managed to reduce to 5-2 and reached a triple break point on the serve of Maria who wanted to close the set! The Frenchwoman this time did not throw away the opportunity and reduced to 5-3 with a break, to get even closer on her serve (5-4).

Sakkari had a second chance to close the set on her own serve and from her mistakes she saw Kornet find four new break points! He managed to delete them all. He found two set points afterwards and closed the adventurous first set with a volley.

With the "good morning" Sakkari found two break points which the French woman erased with the same number of aces, but then she made a double mistake and offered the break to Maria.

Korne found three more break points in her turn, but she didn't take advantage of them either, to make it 2-0 for Maria. Kornet hardly reduced to 2-1 on her serve, but again forced Sakkari with a new break point. He didn't succeed this time either, with Sakkari taking a 3-1 lead and then reaching a triple break point.

4-1 was made by Sakkari, but her opponent found two more break points and this time she did not throw them away, reducing to 4-2.

However, Korne's effortless mistakes gave the break back to Sakkari, who served for the match. She reached a match point, but the French woman converted it into a break point. Once again Sakkari extinguished it and finally reached the victory.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη σαφώς καλύτερη σε σχέση με την περασμένη εβδομάδα στο Νότιγχαμ, κέρδισε με 6-4, 6-2 την Κορνέ και συνεχίζει στο Βερολίνο.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη αυτή τη φορά έπαιξε πιο προσεκτικά και απέκλεισε την Αλιζέ Κορνέ.

Η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια πήρε άτυπη ρεβάνς για την ήττα της περασμένης εβδομάδας στο Νότιγχαμ, επικρατώντας με 2-0 σετ (6-4, 6-2 σε 1 ώρα και 46 λεπτά) και συνεχίζει στις «16» του Βερολίνου όπου θα παίξει είτε με Σάζνοβιτς, είτε με Αζαρένκα.

Το πρώτο σετ είχε αρκετή περιπέτεια, καθώς η Κορνέ αισθάνθηκε αδιαθεσία, επέστρεψε και από 1-5 μείωσε σε 4-5, βρίσκοντας και 4 break points για την ισοφάριση! Η Σάκκαρη ωστόσο τα έσβησε και εκεί ήταν το κλειδί του πρώτου σετ, αφού η Ελληνίδα είχε 2/2 break points και η αντίπαλός της 1/9.

Στο δεύτερο κυριάρχησε απόλυτα, συνέχισε να σβήνει break points της Γαλλίδας (2/15 είχε η Κορνέ) και έφτασε στον επόμενο γύρο της διοργάνωσης.

Με μπόλικο... δράμα το 1-0 η Σάκκαρη

Η Κορνέ ξεκίνησε εντυπωσιακά το ματς, κερδίζοντας σε δύο λεπτά το πρώτο game και στη συνέχεια έφτασε σε τριπλό break point. Ομως, παρά το ότι δεν έβρισκε πρώτο σερβίς, η Σάκκαρη με ορισμένα ράλι στο game, ανάγκασε σε λάθη την αντίπαλό της και με 5 συνεχόμενους πόντους ισοφάρισε σε 1-1.

Αμέσως μετά, η Σάκκαρη βρίσκοντας καλές επιστροφές, σημάδεψε το μπάκχαντ της Γαλλίδας και βρήκε το break point, το οποίο δεν άφησε να πάει χαμένο και πήρε προβάδισμα στο ματς.

Το Νο8 του κόσμου βρήκε ρυθμό στο φόρχαντ της και έφτασε άνετα στο 3-1. Ακολούθησε άλλο ένα break για την Μαρία, με την Κορνέ να δείχνει πως δεν αισθάνεται καλά και κάλεσε γιατρό όπου της μέτρησαν την πίεση.

Μετά από περίπου 7-8 λεπτά διακοπής, η Γαλλίδα επέστρεψε στο ματς, αλλά η Σάκκαρη με δύο καλά πρώτα σερβίς στο 30-30, έφτασε στο υπέρ της 5-1.

Η Κορνέ κατάφερε να μειώσει σε 5-2 και έφτασε σε τριπλό break point στο σερβίς της Μαρίας που ήθελε να κλείσει το σετ! Η Γαλλίδα αυτή τη φορά δεν πέταξε την ευκαιρία και μείωσε σε 5-3 με break, για να πλησιάσει κι άλλο στο σερβίς της (5-4).

Η Σάκκαρη είχε μία δεύτερη ευκαιρία να κλείσει το σετ στο δικό της σερβίς και από τα λάθη της είδε την Κορνέ να βρίσκει τέσσερα νέα break point! Κατάφερε να τα σβήσει όλα. Βρήκε δύο set point στη συνέχεια και με βολέ έκλεισε το περιπετειώδες πρώτο σετ.

Κυριάρχη Σάκκαρη και πρόκριση στις «16»

Με το «καλημέρα» η Σάκκαρη βρήκε δύο break point τα οποία έσβησε με ισάριθμους άσους η Γαλλίδα, όμως μετά έκανε διπλό λάθος και πρόσφερε το break στην Μαρία.

Η Κορνέ βρήκε με την σειρά της break point και μάλιστα άλλα τρία, αλλά ούτε αυτά εκμεταλλεύτηκε, για να γίνει το 2-0 για την Μαρία. Η Κορνέ με δυσκολία μείωσε σε 2-1 στο σερβίς της, αλλά έβαλε ξανά ζόρια στην Σάκκαρη με νέο break point. Ούτε αυτή τη φορά τα κατάφερε όμως, με την Σάκκαρη να παίρνει προβάδισμα 3-1 και στη συνέχεια να φτάνει σε τριπλό break point.

Το 4-1 έγινε από την Σάκκαρη, όμως η αντίπαλός της βρήκε άλλα δύο break points και αυτή τη φορά δεν τα πέταξε, μειώνοντας σε 4-2.

Ομως, τα αβίαστα λάθη της Κορνέ έδωσαν πίσω το break στην Σάκκαρη που σέρβιρε για το ματς. Εφτασε σε match point το οποίο όμως μετέτρεψε σε break point η Γαλλίδα. Για άλλη μία φορά το έσβησε η Σάκκαρη και έφτασε τελικά στη νίκη.
