Thanks to a burst at the beginning of the third period, AEK set the stage and took a big home win over Peristeri bwin (68-64) in Ano Liosia. At +1 and with an advantage in a possible tie, the yellow and black, against the background of the battle of the four in the Basket League.

AEK took a decisive step towards entering the top four of the Basket League ahead of the playoffs, on the afternoon of Saturday January 28, after the home victory over Peristeri bwin (68-64). The yellow-and-blacks stepped on the gas in the second half, relying on offensive pluralism and what they got from their bench, reaching their second victory of the year against the western suburbs team.

The 2/2 in the games between them now gives AEK a clear lead for a place in the top four of the regular season at the end of this season, since Elias Kanzouris' team will have the upper hand in any tie between the two.

The race

The two teams started the game very nervously, with missed shots and mistakes being the norm in the first five minutes. After the televised timeout, however, the switch was (abruptly) flipped, with Sylvain Francisco and Vlado Jankovic standing out on the way to the "X" (16-16) of the first period.

Stiff defending was responsible for the slow tempo of the game, with the lead constantly changing hands as neither team was able to step on the gas and build a good run. For this reason alone, Peristeri bwin went to the locker room with +2 (31-33) thanks to a shot by Sylvain Francisco.

With the start of the second half, the hosts laid the foundations for victory. You see, in about four minutes they scored fifteen (15) unanswered points making the -2 halftime deficit +13 (46-33 at 23'). The bwin Pigeon seemed to have lost it, but it didn't pay. Dimitris Agravanis and Leonidas Kaselakis kept the team of Vassilis Spanoulis standing, managing to significantly reduce the difference (55-51 at 34').

A new small outburst on the part of AEK again brought the home team ahead with a double-digit difference (63-53 in the 37th minute), to lay the foundations for the subsequent victory. The visitors' mini-series within a few seconds did not change the essence of the match, since the -even more- big shots, which were needed, did not come in.

The 4/4 shots by Janis Strelnieks and Isaiah Miles in the last seconds even wrote the epilogue, for AEK's 2/2 over Peristeriou bwin in the Basket League.

Χάρη σε ένα ξέσπασμα στην αρχή της τρίτης περιόδου, η ΑΕΚ έβαλε τις βάσεις και πήρε τη μεγάλη εντός έδρας νίκη επί του Περιστερίου bwin (68-64) στα Άνω Λιόσια. Στο +1 και με πλεονέκτημα σε ενδεχόμενη ισοβαθμία οι κιτρινόμαυροι, με φόντο τη μάχη της τετράδας στη Basket League.

Αποφασιστικό βήμα για την είσοδο στην τετράδα της Basket League εν όψει των playoffs έκανε η ΑΕΚ, το απόγευμα του Σαββάτου 28 Ιανουαρίου, μετά από την εντός έδρας νίκη επί του Περιστερίου bwin (68-64). Οι κιτρινόμαυροι πάτησαν το γκάζι στο δεύτερο μέρος, στηρίχθηκαν στον επιθετικό πλουραλισμό και όσα πήραν από τον πάγκο τους, φτάνοντας στη δεύτερη φετινή επικράτηση επί της ομάδας των δυτικών προαστίων.

Το 2/2 στα μεταξύ τους παιχνίδια δίνει πλέον ξεκάθαρο προβάδισμα στην ΑΕΚ για μια θέση στην πρώτη τετράδα της regular season στο φινάλε αυτής, αφού η ομάδα του Ηλία Καντζούρη θα έχει το πάνω χέρι σε οποιαδήποτε ισοβαθμία εμπλακούν οι δυο τους.

Ο αγώνας

Οι δύο ομάδες ξεκίνησαν πολύ νευρικά το παιχνίδι, με τα άστοχα σουτ και τα λάθη να αποτελούν τον κανόνα του πρώτου πενταλέπτου. Μετά από το τηλεοπτικό τάιμ άουτ όμως, γύρισε (απότομα) ο διακόπτης, με τον Σιλβέν Φρανσίσκο και τον Βλάντο Γιάνκοβιτς να ξεχωρίζουν στον δρόμο για το "Χ" (16-16) της πρώτης περιόδου.

Οι σκληρές άμυνες ήταν υπεύθυνος για τον χαμηλό ρυθμό που είχε αποκτήσει το παιχνίδι, με το προβάδισμα να αλλάζει διαρκώς χέρια αφού ουδεμία εκ των δύο ομάδων ήταν ικανή να πατήσει το γκάζι και να "χτίσει" ένα καλό σερί. Γι αυτό κιόλας, το Περιστέρι bwin πήγε στα αποδυτήρια με +2 (31-33) χάρη σε μια βολή του Σιλβέν Φρανσίσκο.

Με την έναρξη του δευτέρου μέρους, οι γηπεδούχοι έβαλαν τις βάσεις για τη νίκη. Βλέπετε, μέσα σε περίπου τέσσερα λεπτά σημείωσαν δεκαπέντε (15) αναπάντητους πόντους με αποτέλεσμα το -2 του ημιχρόνου να γίνει +13 (46-33 στο 23'). Το Περιστέρι bwin έμοιαζε να τα έχει χαμένα, αλλά δεν το πλήρωσε. Ο Δημήτρης Αγραβάνης και ο Λεωνίδας Κασελάκης κράτησαν όρθια την ομάδα του Βασίλη Σπανούλη, καταφέρνοντας να περιορίσουν αισθητά τη διαφορά (55-51 στο 34').

Ένα νέο μικρό ξέσπασμα από την πλευρά της ΑΕΚ έφερε ξανά τους γηπεδούχους μπροστά με διψήφια διαφορά (63-53 στο 37'), για να μπουν οι βάσεις της μετέπειτα επικράτησης. Το μίνι σερί των φιλοξενούμενων εντός μερικών δευτερολέπτων δεν άλλαξε την ουσία της αναμέτρησης, αφού δεν μπήκαν τα -ακόμη πιο- μεγάλα σουτ, που χρειάζονταν.

Οι 4/4 βολές από Γιάνις Στρέλνιεκς και Αϊζέια Μάιλς στα τελευταία δευτερόλεπτα έγραψαν μάλιστα τον επίλογο, για το 2/2 της ΑΕΚ επί του Περιστερίου bwin στη Basket League.
