Maria Sakkari beat Petra Martic in two sets and Greece now needs a win to advance to the semi-finals of the United Cup!

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη λύγισε στα δύο σετ την Πέτρα Μάρτιτς και η Ελλάδα θέλει τώρα μια νίκη για να περάσει στα ημιτελικά του United Cup!
Πιο δύσκολα από ό,τι δείχνει το σκορ, η κορυφαία Ελληνίδα τενίστρια επικράτησε της 31χρονης αντιπάλου της (Νο.38) με 6-3, 6-3 σε 1 ώρα και 39 λεπτά και η ελληνική ομάδα προηγείται πλέον της Κροατίας με 2-1. Η Ελλάδα, δηλαδή, γύρισε το tie με Τσιτσιπά και Σάκκαρη!
Σειρά έχει τώρα η κόντρα των Νο.2, με τον Στέφανο Σακελλαρίδη, την αποκάλυψη της χθεσινής μέρας, να παίρνει ξανά τη θέση του Μάικ Περβολαράκη και να τίθεται αντιμέτωπος με τον Μπόρνα Γκόγιο. Ακόμα και αν γίνει το 2-2, θα ακολουθήσει το μεικτό διπλό, όπου Στέφανος και Μαρία μπορούν να κάνουν ξανά τη διαφορά.
Υπάρχει, πάντως, σοβαρή πιθανότητα να περάσει η Ελλάδα και ως καλύτερη φιναλίστ σε περίπτωση ήττας, καθώς έχει καλό ρεκόρ στις τρεις αναμετρήσεις της μέχρι τώρα στο Περθ.
Η Μαρία έχασε άμεσα το προβάδισμά της με 2-0, όμως εκμεταλλεύτηκε το τρίτο της μπρέικ πόιντ στο 4-3 και είχε στη συνέχεια την ευκαιρία να κλείσει το πρώτο σετ στο σερβίς της.
Μετά από ακόμα τέσσερα χαμένα μπρέικ πόιντ, πέρασε μπροστά με 1-0 και 2-0 στο δεύτερο σετ, ενώ είχε άλλες τρεις ευκαιρίες να περάσει μπροστά με διπλό μπρέικ.
Η Μάρτιτς, όμως, έμεινε όρθια και είχε και δύο ευκαιρίες για μπρέικ στο 4-3. Η Σάκκαρη όχι μόνο κράτησε το σερβίς της, αλλά σφράγισε και τη νίκη της με νέο μπρέικ στο επόμενο γκέιμ.
Όπως και ο Στέφανος, η Μαρία έχει τώρα 3/3 στο μονό και 2/2 στο διπλό. Εγγύηση!
H πρώτη ομάδα που πέρασε στα ημιτελικά του Σίδνεϊ είναι οι ΗΠΑ, που είναι στο 3-1 με τη Μεγάλη Βρετανία. Η Πολωνία είναι στο 1-1 με την Ιταλία.
