Tsitsipas - Djokovic 1-2: Fighter Stefanos, bent by a missed backhand in the tie break (vid)
In the tie break, the excellent Tsitsipas bowed out against Djokovic, who advanced to another final.
Stefanos Tsitsipas played a big game, but a missed backhand bowed in the tie break of the third set against Djokovic.
After 2 hours and 19 minutes he lost with 2-1 sets (2-6, 6-3, 6-7) and thus completed his course at the Paris Masters.
Djokovic was in complete control in the first set. In the first set especially he was amazing. He took out all the defenses, forced Stefanos into mistakes with the backhand and having only one effortless mistake, he reached 1-0 in just 31 minutes!
In the second, he started just as strong, but Tsitsipas equalized and after finding the first break in the match, he took control of the set, winning it and leading the game to a third decisive set.
In the third set, the game was balanced and both could easily or difficultly hold their serve.
The final against Holger Rune will start at 4 pm Greek time.
Djokovic cleared the first set in 31 minutes
With bad returns and two Djokovic winners, it was 1-0 for the Serb without losing a point.
In the same way and a winner at the end, Stefanos made it 1-1, but Nole brought a third consecutive love service game (which also ended with a winner) for the 2-1 advantage.
Two aces from Tsitsipas made it 2-2, but for one more game after that, he had no returns and Djokovic made it 3-2.
The break came with two terrific saves from Nole, which caught Tsitsipas by surprise, who was poorly placed on the court. At 4-2, Djokovic continued with the third love service game of the match, which he finished with two consecutive aces, for 5-2.
The consecutive mistakes of Stefanos gave set point to the Serb who did not miss the opportunity and made it 6-2.
Answer Tsitsipas and 1-1!
Another love serve game by Djokovic made it 1-0 and the Serb led 0-30 on Stefanos' serve. There, Tsitsipas raised his level and took the game for 1-1, with the audience deifying him.
He tried to pressure Nole and at 30-30 it was difficult for him, but the owner of 21 grand slams with an ace and an error by Stefanos, reached a 2-1 advantage.
The 2-2 was thanks to Tsitsipas' change of tactics, who played more with the baseline and forced some errors under pressure from the Serb.
With the momentum in his favor, he made a fantastic return and for the first time in the match, he reached break point! He didn't let it go to waste, as he played with depth and forced Djokovic into an error, who for the first time in the match found himself with his back against the wall.
Furious as he was, he started the next game with three aces and easily reached a 4-2 advantage. There came the reaction of Nole who with another love service game reduced to 4-3.
5-3 came just as easily from Stefanos who stayed focused and with correct hits, but also a good first serve, he came one game away from equalizing. And that was not long in coming as he immediately broke thanks to some terrible defense from him and a mistake from the Serb afterwards.
With the sets tied, he went into the third with more confidence.
Tsitsipas saved a double break point at 4-4 with terrible tennis
With this confidence Stefanos served excellently and made it 1-0 in the third set. Djokovic with one of the many backhand winners he had in the match, tied at 1-1 and then found himself with a double break point. However, Tsitsipas served amazingly and not only erased Nole's advantage, but also took the game effortlessly in the end, to lead 2-1.
With two aces in a row, Djokovic leveled at 2-2, but Stefanos continued to serve amazingly and easily finish off his service points to take a 3-2 lead.
Nothing changed in the next two games, with the Serb equalizing, but Stefanos making it 4-3 with an easy love service game.
Djokovic drew level and Stefanos had to serve to hold the lead at the most crucial point of the match. There, Nole's class was shown as he reached a double break point, but Tsitsipas held on and took a big point in a rally, to equalize and take advantage with a beautiful drop shot!
Finally his patience and composure gave him the lead 5-4.
The end of the match
With the seventh love service game in the match, Nole equalized at 5-5, but Tsitsipas with an excellent serve maintained the lead and ensured at worst the tie break which was his goal.
That's where the match and qualification finally went, after Djokovic made another love service game.
In the tie break both held their serve until 3-3. Both made a mini break at that point, with Stefano making a fatal error on his serve and Djokovic serving for 5-4. Djokovic withstood the pressure of Stefanos in the next point and finished the qualification with a slam.

Στο tie break λύγισε ο εξαιρετικός Τσιτσιπάς κόντρα στον Τζόκοβιτς που πέρασε σε έναν ακόμη τελικό.
Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς έκανε μεγάλο παιχνίδι, αλλά από ένα χαμένο μπάκχαντ λύγισε στο tie break του τρίτου σετ απέναντι στον Τζόκοβιτς.
Μετά από 2 ώρες και 19 λεπτά έχασε με 2-1 σετ (2-6, 6-3, 6-7) και έτσι ολοκλήρωσε την πορεία του στο Masters του Παρισιού.
Ο Τζόκοβιτς είχε τον απόλυτο έλεγχο στο πρώτο σετ . Στο πρώτο σετ ειδικά ήταν εκπληκτικός. Εβγαζε όλες τις άμυνες, ανάγκαζε σε λάθη τον Στέφανο με το μπάκχαντ και έχοντας μόνο ένα αβίαστο λάθος, έφτασε στο 1-0 μέσα σε 31 μόλις λεπτά!
Στο δεύτερο άρχισε εξίσου δυνατά, όμως ο Τσιτσιπάς ισορρόπησε και αφού βρήκε το πρώτο break στο ματς, πήρε τον έλεγχο του σετ, κερδίζοντάς το μάλιστα και οδηγώντας το παιχνίδι σε τρίτο καθοριστικό σετ.
Στο τρίτο σετ, το παιχνίδι ήταν ισορροπημένο και αμφότεροι κατάφερναν εύκολα ή δύσκολα να κρατήσουν το σερβίς τους.
Ο τελικός απέναντι στον Χόλγκερ Ρούνε, θα ξεκινήσει στις 4 το μεσημέρι ώρα Ελλάδος.
Καθάρισε το πρώτο σετ σε 31 λεπτά ο Τζόκοβιτς
Με κακές επιστροφές και δύο winners του Τζόκοβιτς, το 1-0 έγινε για τον Σέρβο χωρίς να χάσει πόντο.
Με τον ίδιο τρόπο και έναν winner στο τέλος, ο Στέφανος έκανε το 1-1, όμως ο Νόλε έφερε και τρίτο συνεχόμενο love service game (που επίσης έκλεισε με winner) για το υπέρ του 2-1.
Με δύο άσους του Τσιτσιπά έγινε το 2-2, αλλά για ένα ακόμη game μετά, δεν είχε επιστροφές και ο Τζόκοβιτς έκανε το 3-2.
Το break ήρθε με δύο τρομερές άμυνες από τον Νόλε, οι οποίες αιφνιδίασαν τον Τσιτσιπά, ο οποίος είχε άσχημη τοποθέτηση στο γήπεδο. Με το 4-2 ο Τζόκοβιτς συνέχισε με το τρίτο love service game στο ματς, το οποίο ολοκλήρωσε με δύο συνεχόμενους άσους, για το 5-2.
Τα συνεχόμενα λάθη του Στέφανου έδωσαν set point στον Σέρβο ο οποίος δεν έχασε την ευκαιρία και έκανε το 6-2.
Απάντηση Τσιτσιπά και 1-1!
Ενα ακόμη love servive game του Τζόκοβιτς έκανε το 1-0 και ο Σέρβος προηγήθηκε 0-30 στο σερβίς του Στέφανου. Εκεί ο Τσιτσιπάς ανέβασε επίπεδο και πήρε το game για το 1-1, με το κοινό να τον αποθεώνει.
Προσπάθησε να πιέσει τον Νόλε και στο 30-30 του έβαλε δύσκολα, όμως ο κάτοχος 21 grand slam με έναν άσο και ένα λάθος του Στέφανου, έφτασε στο υπέρ του 2-1.
Το 2-2 έγινε χάρη στην αλλαγή τακτικής του Τσιτσιπά που έπαιξε περισσότερο με την βασική γραμμή και ανάγκασε σε ορισμένα λάθη υπό πίεση τον Σέρβο.
Με το μομέντουμ υπέρ του, έβγαλε μία φανταστική επιστροφή και για πρώτη φορά στο ματς, έφτασε σε break point! Δεν το άφησε να πάει χαμένο, καθώς έπαιξε με βάθος και ανάγκασε σε λάθος τον Τζόκοβιτς, που για πρώτη φορά στο ματς βρέθηκε με την πλάτη στον τοίχο.
Φουριόζος όπως ήταν, ξεκίνησε με τρεις άσους το επόμενο game και έφτασε εύκολα στο υπέρ του 4-2. Εκεί ήρθε η αντίδραση του Νόλε που με ένα ακόμη love service game μείωσε σε 4-3.
Το 5-3 ήρθε εξίσου εύκολα από τον Στέφανο που έμεινε συγκεντρωμένος και με σωστά χτυπήματα, αλλά και καλό πρώτο σερβίς, έφτασε ένα game μακριά από την ισοφάριση. Και αυτή δεν άργησε να έρθει καθώς αμέσως έκανε break χάρη σε μία τρομερή άμυνά του και ένα λάθος του Σέρβου στη συνέχεια.
Με την ισοφάριση στα σετ, πήγε με περισσότερη αυτοπεποίθηση στο τρίτο.
Γλίτωσε διπλό break point στο 4-4 με τρομερό τένις ο Τσιτσιπάς
Με αυτή την αυτοπεποίθηση ο Στέφανος σέρβιρε εξαιρετικά και έκανε το 1-0 στο τρίτο σετ. Ο Τζόκοβιτς με ένα από τα πολλά backhand winner που είχε στο ματς, ισοφάρισε σε 1-1 και στη συνέχεια βρέθηκε με διπλό break point. Ομως ο Τσιτσιπάς σέρβιρε εκπληκτικά και όχι μόνο έσβησε το αβαντάζ του Νόλε, αλλά πήρε και το game χωρίς κόπο στο τέλος, για να προηγηθεί 2-1.
Με δύο συνεχόμενους άσους, ο Τζόκοβιτς ισοφάρισε σε 2-2, όμως ο Στέφανος συνέχισε να σερβίρει εκπληκτικά και να τελειώνει εύκολα τους πόντους στο σερβίς του, για να πάρει προβάδισμα με 3-2.
Δεν άλλαξε κάτι στα επόμενα δύο games, με τον Σέρβο να ισοφαρίζει, αλλά τον Στέφανο να κάνει το 4-3 με εύκολο love service game.
Ο Τζόκοβιτς ισοφάρισε με μηδέν και ο Στέφανος έπρεπε να σερβίρει για να κρατήσει το προβάδισμα στο πιο κρίσιμο σημείο του ματς. Εκεί φάνηκε η κλάση του Νόλε που έφτασε σε διπλό break point, όμως ο Τσιτσιπάς άντεξε και πήρε έναν μεγάλο πόντο σε ράλι, για να ισοφαρίσει και να πάρει αβαντάζ με ένα πανέμορφο drop shot!
Τελικά η υπομονή και η ψυχραιμία του, του έδωσαν το προβάδισμα με 5-4.
Το φινάλε του αγώνα
Με το έβδομο love service game στο ματς, ο Νόλε ισοφάρισε σε 5-5, αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς με εξαιρετικό σερβίς διατήρησε το προβάδισμα και εξασφάλισε στη χειρότερη το tie break που ήταν και ο στόχος του.
Εκεί πήγε τελικά το ματς και η πρόκριση, αφού ο Τζόκοβιτς έκανε άλλο ένα love service game.
Στο tie break αμφότεροι κράτησαν το σερβίς τους ως το 3-3. Αμφότεροι έκαναν από ένα mini break σε εκείνο το σημείο, με τον Στέφανο να κάνει μοιραίο λάθος στο σερβίς του και ο Τζόκοβιτς να σερβίρει με το υπέρ του 5-4. Ο Τζόκοβιτς άντεξε στη πίεση του Στέφανου στον επόμενο πόντο και με σμας τελείωσε τη πρόκριση.
