Anantolou Efes - Panathinaikos 82-81: Moerman killed him at 1.1 '' from 6m75 (video)
Panathinaikos OPAP was a hug with the victory in Istanbul, but did not get it. A missed shot by Okaro White at 14.7 '' and a three-pointer by Adrien Moerman at 1.1 '' brought the game to a halt, with Anadolu Efes celebrating almost on the exhale.
Panathinaikos OPAP made its best appearance this year away from OAKA, but that was not enough. He bent at the points from Anantolou Efes (82-81), with the match leaving him with a very bitter taste after the great effort and the exceptional percentages from 6m75 (42.9%) went awry.
Everything was judged in the last seconds, where a missed shot by Okaro White (fatal from the personal, as in Munich) and a big three-pointer by Adrien Moerman determined the final outcome. The trap on Vassilie Mitsic at the top created a free Turkish shot, with the experienced forward scoring correctly and giving the victory to Anadolu Efes.
The race
Panathinaikos OPAP was quite problematic in the attack in the first five minutes of the match, but that did not cost him. The Greens managed to maintain (relative) control over the situation, at the same time that Shane Larkin was "hot" from the periphery (3/3 three points). The -5 (17-12) of the first period for the clover arose mainly due to the 1/10 two points up to that point - expected to a degree in the absence of George Papagiannis.
Gradually, however, the players of Dimitris Priftis became discouraged. How did this happen; Thanks to the three-pointers. With Kendrick Perry making the start and Nemanja Nedovic taking the baton, the Greens put up five three-pointers in the second period and transferred the pressure to the opposite side. Somehow, the lead passed into Greek hands from the middle of the tenth minute and remained in them until the break (39-42), which found Panathinaikos OPAP to have 8/15 three points and control the rebounds (20 against 16).
After the break, the pressure of the hosts on the ball was much more intense. And it worked, as the clover made almost twice as many mistakes in the third period compared to the entire first half (7 vs. 4). Ergin Ataman's team regained the lead, but was unable to maintain it for long.
Nemanja Nedovic took a step forward, put big personal baskets and together with Daryl Makon they were the ... security of Panathinaikos OPAP against the Turkish counterattack. To such an extent that not even the +5 (63-58 in 28 ') of the hosts made the Greek team bend. After all, it was (and is) a matter of self-confidence!
Something that was reflected in the percentages of Anantolou Efes in the three-pointer. You see, Ergin Ataman's players marked the iron over and over again, in contrast to their opponents, who proved to be consistent and took on more and more courage. Somehow, the greens were at +3 (73-76) with three minutes to go - 24% of Anadolu Efes' percentage at that point.
In the final straight, everything was judged on the shot, on the rebound, on a clear defense. Panathinaikos OPAP remained -with nails and teeth- in the driver's seat, mainly because the hosts were misplaced. Both from the line of fire (Brian Dunston lost a crucial one at 52.8 '') and from that of the three-pointer, with Vassilie Mitsic marking the iron for the umpteenth time at 16 '' (he had 0/7 three-pointers).
Okaro White shot 1/2 shots at 14.7 '' for the final, with the lost effort from the personal ones proving to be fatal - as in Munich. Adrien Moerman put the biggest shot of the night at 1.1 '' for the end and gave the victory to Anadolu Efes (82-81), in a thriller game.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός ΟΠΑΠ ήταν αγκαλιά με τη νίκη στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, αλλά δεν την πήρε. Μία χαμένη βολή του Οκάρο Γουάιτ στα 14.7'' και ένα τρίποντο του Άντριεν Μοερμάν στο 1.1'' έφεραν τούμπα το παιχνίδι, με την Αναντολού Εφές να πανηγυρίζει σχεδόν με την εκπνοή.
Ο Παναθηναϊκός ΟΠΑΠ έκανε την καλύτερη φετινή εμφάνισή του μακριά από το ΟΑΚΑ, αλλά αυτό δεν ήταν αρκετό. Λύγισε στα σημεία από την Αναντολού Εφές (82-81), με την αναμέτρηση να του αφήνει μια πολύ πικρή γεύση αφού πήγαν στράφι η σπουδαία προσπάθεια και τα εξαιρετικά ποσοστά από τα 6μ75 (42.9%).
Όλα κρίθηκαν στα τελευταία δευτερόλεπτα, εκεί όπου μια χαμένη βολή του Οκάρο Γουάιτ (μοιραίος από τις προσωπικές, όπως στο Μόναχο) και ένα μεγάλο τρίποντο του Άντριεν Μόερμαν καθόρισαν την τελική έκβαση. Η παγίδα στον Βασίλιε Μίτσιτς στην κορυφή δημιούργησε ένα ελεύθερο τουρκικό σουτ, με τον έμπειρο φόργουορντ να σημαδεύει σωστά και να δίνει τη νίκη στην Αναντολού Εφές.
Ο αγώνας
Ο Παναθηναϊκός ΟΠΑΠ ήταν αρκετά προβληματικός στην επίθεση στο πρώτο πεντάλεπτο της αναμέτρησης, αλλά αυτό δεν του στοίχισε. Οι πράσινοι κατάφεραν να διατηρήσουν τον (σχετικό) έλεγχο με την κατάσταση, την ίδια ώρα που ο Σέιν Λάρκιν ήταν "καυτός" από την περιφέρεια (3/3 τρίποντα). Το -5 (17-12) της πρώτης περιόδου για το τριφύλλι προέκυψε κατά βάση εξαιτίας των 1/10 διπόντων μέχρις εκείνο το σημείο -αναμενόμενο ως ένα βαθμό εν τη απουσία του Γιώργου Παπαγιάννη.
Σταδιακά όμως, οι παίκτες του Δημήτρη Πρίφτη αναθάρρησαν. Πώς έγινε αυτό; Χάρη στα τρίποντα. Με τον Κέντρικ Πέρι να κάνει την αρχή και τον Νεμάνια Νέντοβιτς να παίρνει την σκυτάλη, οι πράσινοι έβαλαν πέντε τρίποντα στη δεύτερη περίοδο και μετέφεραν την πίεση στην απέναντι πλευρά. Κάπως έτσι, το προβάδισμα πέρασε σε ελληνικά χέρια από τα μισά του δεκαλέπτου κι έμεινε σε αυτά μέχρι την ανάπαυλα (39-42), που έβρισκε τον Παναθηναϊκό ΟΠΑΠ να έχει 8/15 τρίποντα και να ελέγχει τα ριμπάουντ (20 έναντι 16).
Μετά την ανάπαυλα, η πίεση των γηπεδούχων στην μπάλα ήταν πολύ πιο έντονη. Κι είχε αποτέλεσμα, δεδομένου ότι το τριφύλλι έκανε σχεδόν διπλάσια λάθη στην τρίτη περίοδο εν συγκρίσει με ολόκληρο το πρώτο μέρος (7 έναντι 4). Η ομάδα του Εργκίν Αταμάν ανέκτησε το προβάδισμα, αλλά δεν είχε τη δυνατότητα να το διατηρήσει επί μακρώ.
Ο Νεμάνια Νέντοβιτς έκανε ένα βήμα μπροστά, έβαλε μεγάλα προσωπικά καλάθια και μαζί με τον Ντάριλ Μέικον αποτέλεσαν την... ασφάλεια του Παναθηναϊκού ΟΠΑΠ απέναντι στην τουρκική αντεπίθεση. Σε τέτοιο βαθμό, που ούτε το +5 (63-58 στο 28') των γηπεδούχων έκανε την ελληνική ομάδα να λυγίσει. Πλέον άλλωστε ήταν (και) θέμα αυτοπεποίθησης!
Κάτι που αποτυπωνόταν άλλωστε στα ποσοστά της Αναντολού Εφές στο τρίποντο. Βλέπετε, οι παίκτες του Εργκίν Αταμάν σημάδευαν ξανά και ξανά το σίδερο, εν αντιθέσει με τους αντιπάλους τους, που αποδεικνύονταν συνεπείς και έπαιρναν όλο και περισσότερο θάρρος. Κάπως έτσι, οι πράσινοι βρέθηκαν στο +3 (73-76) με τρία λεπτά για το τέλος -στο 24% το ποσοστό της Αναντολού Εφές σε εκείνο το σημείο.
Στην τελική ευθεία, όλα κρίνονταν στο σουτ, στο ριμπάουντ, σε μια καθαρή άμυνα. Ο Παναθηναϊκός ΟΠΑΠ έμεινε -με νύχια και με δόντια- σε θέση οδηγού, κυρίως γιατί οι γηπεδούχοι ήταν άστοχοι. Τόσο από την γραμμή των βολών (έχασε μια κρίσιμη ο Μπράιαν Ντάνστον στα 52.8'') όσο και από αυτή του τριπόντου, με τον Βασίλιε Μίτσιτς να σημαδεύει το σίδερο για πολλοστή φορά στα 16'' (είχε 0/7 τρίποντα).
Ο Οκάρο Γουάιτ έβαλε 1/2 βολές στα 14.7'' για το φινάλε, με τη χαμένη προσπάθεια από τις προσωπικές να αποδεικνύεται μοιραία -όπως στο Μόναχο. Ο Αντριέν Μόερμαν έβαλε το μεγαλύτερο σουτ της βραδιάς στο 1.1'' για το τέλος και έδωσε τη νίκη στην Αναντολού Εφές (82-81), σε ένα παιχνίδι - θρίλερ.
