Ο Ολυμπιακός πήρε το εισιτήριο για το Final Four του Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας με χαρακτηριστική άνεση. Οι ερυθρόλευκοι είχαν εξαιρετική απόδοση στην επίθεση στο σύνολο του σαρανταλέπτου και έφτασαν με άνεση στη νίκη - πρόκριση επί του Ιωνικού (110-85), παρά τη λειψανδρία στα γκαρντ εξαιτίας των απουσιών (βλ. Ο αγώνας

Ο Ιωνικός έμεινε κοντά στα πρώτα τέσσερα λεπτά του αγώνα, αλλά εν συνεχεία ο Ολυμπιακός πάτησε το γκάζι και με συνεχόμενα διαδοχικά καλάθια έχτισε το +8 (15-7) του 5ου λεπτού, που αποτέλεσε το έναυσμα της κυριαρχίας του. Μετά την ανάπαυλα, ο Ιωνικός ξεκίνησε με διάθεση και ενέργεια, για να συμμαζέψει την κατάσταση. Όπως κι έκανε, έστω για τρία λεπτά. Οι φιλοξενούμενοι πέτυχαν αναπάντητους πόντους στην εκκίνηση της τρίτης περιόδου, με αποτέλεσμα να μαζέψουν τη διαφορά στο -9 (61-52 στο 22').

Ο Γιώργος Μπαρτζώκας κάλεσε τάιμ άουτ κι η αντίδραση των παικτών του ήταν άμεση. Με όπλο ξανά την άμυνα και τον έλεγχο των ριμπάουντ, ο Ολυμπιακός έβαλε άμεσα τέλος στην κυανόλευκη αντεπίθεση και με πλουραλισμό στην επίθεση επανέφερε το +20 (81-61) στο τέλος του τρίτου δεκαλέπτου.

Κάπως έτσι, η τελική ευθεία του αγώνα ήταν διαδικαστικού χαρακτήρα πλέον, με τους ερυθρόλευκους να κάνουν την απαραίτητη διαχείριση και να κλείνουν δίχως προβλήματα τον αγώνα.
