Μέσα από την εξαιρετική της άμυνα, που… κλείδωσε στα αποδυτήρια τον Τζόρνταν Λόιντ, η Μπαρτσελόνα δεν προβληματίστηκε ιδιαίτερα από τον Ερυθρό Αστέρα, τον οποίο νίκησε 76-65 και έτσι ανέβηκε στο 8-1.
Σχεδόν σε όλο το ματς, οι «μπλαουγκράνα» διατηρούσαν διψήφιες διαφορές, φτάνοντας και πάνω από τους 20 πόντους, ρίχνοντας τις… στροφές τους στην τέταρτη περίοδο, χωρίς ωστόσο να το πληρώσουν.
Κορυφαίος ο Νίκολα Μίροτιτς με 23 πόντους, με τον Πιέρε Οριόλα να είχε 12π. και τον Νικ Καλάθη να ακολουθεί με 10π. και 8 ασίστ.
Από τους «ερυθρόλευκους» του Βελιγραδίου, που υποχώρησαν στο 4-6, ξεχώρισε ο Ντέγιαν Νταβιντόβατς με 12 πόντους, ενώ ο πρώτος σκόρερ της φετινής Ευρωλίγκας, Τζόρνταν Λόιντ, έπεσε πάνω σε… τείχος, έχοντας μόλις 2π. σε 22 λεπτά συμμετοχής, με 0/4 δίποντα, 0/4 τρίποντα και 2/2 βολές.
Το ματς
Με τον πολύ ορεξάτο Μίροτιτς, η Μπαρτσελόνα προηγήθηκε 7-0 στην αρχή του παιχνιδιού, με τον Οριόλα να κάνει το 11-2, στο 5’. Οι Καταλανοί συνέχισαν την ίδια εξαιρετική άμυνα, κρύβοντας το… καλάθι στον Ερυθρό Αστέρα και με τον Καλάθη να μπαίνει στην… εξίσωση, έκλεισαν την πρώτη περίοδο με το επιβλητικό 19-6.
Στον ίδιο ρυθμό συνέχισαν οι «μπλαουγκράνα» και στο δεύτερο δεκάλεπτο, ξεφεύγοντας στο +17 (25-8), στο 14’. Με τους Χολ και Νταβιντόβατς, οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» βελτιώθηκαν επιθετικά και μείωσαν στο -12 (27-15), με την επιστροφή των Καλάθη-Μίροτιτς στο παρκέ να στέλνει αρχικά τους γηπεδούχους στο +16 (33-17), ενώ με το buzzer beater τρίποντο του Χίγκινς πήγαν στα αποδυτήρια με το +17 (39-22).
Με τρίποντο του Μίροτιτς, η διαφορά πήγε στο +22 (46-24) για την Μπαρτσελόνα, στο ξεκίνημα του δεύτερου μέρους. Ωστόσο, στα τελευταία λεπτά ανέλαβαν δράση οι Μίροτιτς και Καλάθης για την Μπαρτσελόνα, με τη νίκη να έρχεται με το τελικό 76-65.
