NBA: The coronavirus… threatens the All Star Game!

If the All Star Game is canceled, it will be only the second time since 1951 !. The first and only time so far was the 1998-99 season, when the "lockout" forced the NBA to start that season a few months later.

This year's All Star Game was scheduled to take place in Indianapolis in 2022 in Cleveland and in 2023 in Salt Lake City.

Ο κορονοϊός είχε ως αποτέλεσμα να αργήσει να ολοκληρωθεί κατά πολύ το πρωτάθλημα της σεζόν 2019-2020 στο ΝΒΑ. Τελικά οι Λέικερς στο Ορλάντο πριν λίγο καιρό πήραν τον τίτλο, κερδίζοντας στους τελικούς, με νίκες 4-2 τους Χιτ.

Πλέον στο ΝΒΑ το θέμα είναι πότε θα ξεκινήσει το νέο πρωτάθλημα, της περιόδου 2020-21. Μία σκέψη είναι η έναρξη του να πραγματοποιηθεί τα Χριστούγεννα.

 Με μειωμένο αριθμό αγώνων (72) και φινάλε πριν τους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Τόκιο. Επίσης εξετάζεται αυτό να συμβεί πιο μετά τον Ιανουάριο.

Έχει όμως δημιουργηθεί και μεγάλο ζήτημα αν θα διεξαχθεί το φετινό All Star Game ή όχι. Όπως γράφει ο απόλυτα έγκυρος Άντριαν Βοϊναρόφσκι του ESPN, η λίγκα οδεύει προς την απόφαση αναβολής του και παράλληλα σκέφτεται μία διακοπή διάρκειας δύο εβδομάδων αντί για το All Star.

Αν όντως ακυρωθεί το All Star Game, θα είναι η μόλις δεύτερα φορά από το 1951!. Η πρώτη και μοναδική φορά ως τώρα ήταν τη σεζόν 1998-99, όταν το “λοκ άουτ” ανάγκασε το ΝΒΑ να ξεκινήσει εκείνη την αγωνιστική περίοδο μερικούς μήνες αργότερα.

To φετινό All Star Game ήταν προγραμματισμένο να διεξαχθεί στην Ιντιανάπολις, το 2022 στο Κλίβελαντ, ενώ το 2023 στο Σολτ Λέικ Σίτι.
