But they had an unfortunate inspiration: they decided to take advantage of the empty space around the playing field, placing thousands of white plastic chairs on it at the same level, so that people would not be visible on the pitch!
In fact, these posts were not cheap. They cost $ 150 each! In other words, the presentation was spectacular. Το Marvel Stadium της Μελβούρνης γέμισε πλαστικές καρέκλες για το φιλικό της Αυστραλίας με τις ΗΠΑ. Υπάρχει όμως ένα πρόβλημα. Η ορατότητα στο γήπεδο ήταν περιορισμένη!
Οι Αυστραλοί διοργανωτές ετοίμασαν ένα μοναδικό σόου για τον φιλικό αγώνα των "μπούμερς" με τις ΗΠΑ στο αχανές (45.000 θέσεων) Marvel Stadium της Μελβούρνης ενόψει του Παγκοσμίου Κυπέλλου. Είχαν όμως μία ατυχή έμπνευση: αποφάσισαν να εκμεταλλευτούν τον άδειο χώρο περιμετρικά του αγωνιστικού χώρου, τοποθετώντας σε αυτόν χιλιάδες άσπρες πλαστικές καρέκλες στο ίδιο επίπεδο, με αποτέλεσμα ο κόσμος να μην έχει ορατότητα στο γήπεδο!
Οι συγκεκριμένες θέσεις μάλιστα δεν ήταν φτηνές. Κόστιζαν 150 δολάρια η μία! Κατ' τα άλλα, η παρουσίαση ήταν φαντασμαγορική. Οι παίκτες μπήκαν στο γήπεδο από έναν ειδικό διάδρομο που δημιουργήθηκε, με τους Αμερικανούς να παρουσιάζονται υπό τους ήχους του Enter Sandman των Metallica και τους Αυστραλούς με το Hell's Bells των (Αυστραλών) AC/DC να δονεί το στάδιο. Το ματς, πάντως, όσοι βρίσκονταν στο χαμηλό επίπεδο, μάλλον δύσκολα θα το παρακολουθήσουν...
