Πρώτος σκόρερ των Βάσκων ήταν ο Σενγκέλια με 20 πόντους, με τον Τζάνινγκ να είχε 16, αλλά τον Γάλλο σέντερ να κάνει νταμπλ-νταμπλ με 12 πόντους και ισάριθμα ριμπάουντ. Από την ομάδα του Γιάννη Σφαιρόπουλου, που έπεσε στο 3-9, ξεχώρισαν οι Γουίλμπεκιν και Κέιν με 13 πόντους ο καθένας, ενώ από 12 είχαν οι Τάιους και Ο’ Μπράιαντ.
Μαζί ήταν οι δύο ομάδες μέχρι τα πρώτα πέντε λεπτά του ματς (13-13), με την Μπασκόνια να πατάει το… γκάζι και να ξεφεύγει στο τέλος του πρώτου δεκαλέπτου στο +5 (17-22). Στη δεύτερη περίοδο, ήταν η σειρά της Μακάμπι να… μιλήσει και με «όπλο» τα τρίποντα δεν πέρασε απλά μπροστά, αλλά ξέφυγε στο +6 (30-24), στο 15’. Οι Βάσκοι απάντησαν με δικό τους προσπέρασμα (32-33), με την ομάδα του Σφαιρόπουλου να αντιδρά εκ νέου και να πηγαίνει στα αποδυτήρια με το +5 (41-36).
Το ίδιο δυνατά μπήκε η «ομάδα του λαού» και στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο και έτσι κατάφερε να εκτοξεύσει την υπέρ της διαφορά ακόμη και στο +10 (60-50), με το τέλος της τρίτης περιόδου να τη βρίσκει στο +7 (61-54). Με ένα 6-0 ξεκίνησε η Μπασκόνια στο τέταρτο δεκάλεπτο, μειώνοντας στον πόντο (61-60), με το ντέρμπι να συνεχίζεται αλλά τους Ισραηλινούς να ήταν μπροστά (76-73), μέχρι το 37’. Εκεί, οι φιλοξενούμενοι έκαναν ένα 6-0 με πρωταγωνιστή τον Σενγκέλια, παίρνοντας το προβάδισμα (76-79), στο 38’, αλλά ο Κέιν ισοφάρισε (79-79), στα 30’’ πριν τη λήξη. Ο Πουαριέ έβαλε ξανά μπροστά στην Μπασκόνια με εντυπωσιακό κάρφωμα, με τον Γουίλμπεκιν να κάνει το λάθος και έτσι οι Βάσκοι να φεύγουν με τη νίκη (79-81).
