Τις αναμνήσεις του από τις βομβιστικές επιθέσεις του 2004 σε σιδηροδρομικούς σταθμούς της Μαδρίτης ανέσυρε ο Ρομπέρτο, σε συνέντευξη του στη “Marca”. Πως η τύχη του “χαμογέλασε”, αποφεύγοντας το θάνατο.

Η Μαδρίτη στις 11 Μαρτίου 2004 αντιμετώπισε μία από τις πιο “μαύρες” στιγμές της ιστορίας της. Τότε, τρομοκράτες επιτέθηκαν με βόμβες σε τέσσερα τρένα σε σιδηροδρομικές γραμμές της ισπανικής πρωτεύουσας, οδηγώντας στον θάνατο 192 άτομα και τραυματίζοντας περισσότερους από 2.000.

Δεκατέσσερα χρόνια αργότερα, ο πρώην τερματοφύλακας του Ολυμπιακού και νυν της Μάλαγα, Ρομπέρτο, θυμάται εκείνο το πρωινό, αλλά και πως από καθαρή τύχη γλίτωσε το θάνατο, σε συνέντευξη του στη "Marca".

“Ξεκίνησα για το σχολείο μαζί με τον πατέρα μου, ο οποίος προσφέρθηκε να με συνοδεύσει μέχρι τον σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό, κάτι που δεν συνήθιζε.

Έχοντας ξοδέψει λίγο χρόνο περισσότερο με τον πατέρα μου, έτρεξα προς το σταθμό και τότε αισθάνθηκα το τούνελ κοντά στην πλατφόρμα να δονείται καθώς ο συρμός πλησίαζε.

Πήδηξα τρία τρία τα σκαλοπάτια για να προλάβω το τρένο, πάτησα τα κουμπιά της πόρτας, αλλά αυτό επιτάχυνε. Ήμουν σίγουρος πως θα αργούσα στο σχολείο” ανέφερε αρχικά ο 32χρονος γκολκίπερ για να συνεχίσει:

“Πέντε λεπτά μετά την αναχώρηση του τρένου, ο θόρυβος από την έκρηξη ακούστηκε μέχρι την πλατφόρμα που βρισκόμουν. Κάτι είχε σκάσει στον επόμενο σταθμό, αυτό της Santa Eugenia.


Μια φωνή από τα μεγάφωνα μας είπε να εγκαταλείψουμε το σταθμό, πήγα στο σπίτι μου, έβαλα την τηλεόραση και είδα μπροστά μου την θλιβερή ιστορία που θυμόμαστε όλοι τώρα”
