EuroLeague: Zalgiris' Sylvain Francisco named October MVP

Sylvain Francisco led Zalgiris Kaunas to the top of the standings with impressive performances and was named October MVP in the EuroLeague, confirming his steady rise in European basketball.

The EuroLeague announced that Sylvain Francisco is the Most Valuable Player for the month of October, with the French guard of Zalgiris Kaunas being rewarded for his consistency and leadership role in the Lithuanian team's excellent start to the 2025–26 season.

Francisco was the "driving force" of Zalgiris, leading them to a 6–2 record and a share of first place in the standings.

With his combination of scoring, creation and composure, he masterfully guided the team's offense, proving that he can stand among the top guards in the competition.

In October, the 27-year-old ace tied for the EuroLeague lead in assists with 6.8 per game, while he was Zalgiris' leading scorer with an average of 14.9 points.

At the same time, his Performance Index Rating (PIR) reached 18.9, the second highest among all regional players in the league that month.

Speaking on the “EuroLeague & Friends: MVP Talk” podcast with Olivia Harlan Decker, Francisco said:

“It’s incredible, I didn’t expect it and I’m really happy. I feel like I’m dancing inside. There are so many great players in the EuroLeague, and being MVP is a huge honor. All I want is for us to keep winning as a team and get to the playoffs, that’s our goal.”

With his award as October MVP, Francisco confirms his impressive development and the transformation of Zalgiris into one of the most stable and dangerous teams in this year’s EuroLeague.

Ο Σιλβέν Φρανσίσκο οδήγησε τη Ζάλγκιρις Κάουνας στην κορυφή της βαθμολογίας με εντυπωσιακές εμφανίσεις και αναδείχθηκε MVP του Οκτωβρίου στη EuroLeague, επιβεβαιώνοντας τη σταθερή άνοδό του στο ευρωπαϊκό μπάσκετ.

Η EuroLeague ανακοίνωσε ότι ο Σιλβέν Φρανσίσκο είναι ο πολυτιμότερος παίκτης για τον μήνα Οκτώβριο, με τον Γάλλο γκαρντ της Ζάλγκιρις Κάουνας να επιβραβεύεται για τη συνέπειά του και τον ηγετικό του ρόλο στο εξαιρετικό ξεκίνημα της λιθουανικής ομάδας στη σεζόν 2025–26.

Ο Φρανσίσκο αποτέλεσε τον “κινητήριο μοχλό” της Ζάλγκιρις, οδηγώντας την σε ρεκόρ 6–2 και μερίδιο στην πρώτη θέση της βαθμολογίας.

Με τον συνδυασμό σκοραρίσματος, δημιουργίας και ψυχραιμίας, καθοδήγησε με μαεστρία την επίθεση της ομάδας, αποδεικνύοντας ότι μπορεί να σταθεί ανάμεσα στους κορυφαίους γκαρντ της διοργάνωσης.

Τον Οκτώβριο, ο 27χρονος άσος μοιραζόταν την κορυφή της EuroLeague στις ασίστ με 6,8 ανά παιχνίδι, ενώ ήταν πρώτος σκόρερ της Ζάλγκιρις με 14,9 πόντους μέσο όρο.

Παράλληλα, το Performance Index Rating (PIR) του έφτασε το 18,9, το δεύτερο υψηλότερο ανάμεσα σε όλους τους περιφερειακούς της λίγκας εκείνον τον μήνα.

Μιλώντας στο podcast “EuroLeague & Friends: MVP Talk” με την Ολίβια Χάρλαν Ντέκερ, ο Φρανσίσκο δήλωσε:

“Είναι απίστευτο, δεν το περίμενα και είμαι πραγματικά χαρούμενος. Νιώθω ότι “χορεύω” από μέσα μου. Υπάρχουν τόσοι σπουδαίοι παίκτες στη EuroLeague, και το να είμαι MVP είναι τεράστια τιμή. Το μόνο που θέλω είναι να συνεχίσουμε να νικάμε ως ομάδα και να φτάσουμε στα playoffs, αυτός είναι ο στόχος μας”.

Με τη βράβευσή του ως MVP του Οκτωβρίου, ο Φρανσίσκο επιβεβαιώνει την εντυπωσιακή του εξέλιξη και τη μεταμόρφωση της Ζάλγκιρις σε μια από τις πιο σταθερές και επικίνδυνες ομάδες της φετινής EuroLeague.
