Conference Cup: PAOK wins the "civil war"

PAOK won against Chania 21-12 in the third and final match for the Conference Cup qualifiers and took the ticket for the next phase of the competition from the first place...

The Greek "civil war" had PAOK as the winner and thus the first place in the Conference Cup qualifying group was painted black and white. The Thessaloniki team prevailed 21-12 over Chania, with both teams advancing to the next phase of the competition.

PAOK was better in terms of competition, which translated into a three-goal difference in the first eight minutes (6-3). Then the Cretan team improved offensively, however, the Thessaloniki team with 5 goals against four managed to increase the difference again and go with +4 at half-time (11-7).

In the second half, the team from Thessaloniki continued to control the pace. Panagiotis Vergos' team increased the lead in the next eight minutes to reach the final score of 21-12.

Ο ΠΑΟΚ πήρε τη νίκη κόντρα στα Χανιά με 21-12 στον τρίτο και τελευταίο αγώνα για τα προκριματικά του Conference Cup και πήρε το εισιτήριο για την επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης από την πρώτη θέση...

Ο ελληνικός «εμφύλιος» είχε νικητή τον ΠΑΟΚ και έτσι η πρώτη θέση στον προκριματικό όμιλο του Conference Cup βάφτηκε ασπρόμαυρη. Η ομάδα της Θεσσαλονίκης επικράτησε με 21-12 των Χανίων, με τις δύο ομάδες να περνούν στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης.

Αγωνιστικά ο ΠΑΟΚ ήταν καλύτερος, κάτι το οποίο μεταφράστηκε με μία διαφορά τριών τερμάτων στο πρώτο οκτάλεπτο (6-3). Στη συνέχεια η κρητική ομάδα βελτιώθηκε επιθετικά, ωστόσο οι Θεσσαλονικείς με 5 γκολ έναντι τεσσάρων κατάφεραν ν' ανεβάσουν εκ νέου τη διαφορά και να πάνε με το +4 στο ημίχρονο (11-7).

Στο δεύτερο μισό η ομάδα από τη Θεσσαλονίκη συνέχισε να ελέγχει το ρυθμό. Το σύνολο του Παναγιώτη Βέργου στα επόμενα οκτάλεπτα ανέβασε την υπέρ του διαφορά για να διαμορφωθεί το τελικό 21-12 στο τέλος.
