Against all the problems, perhaps even against the predictions, Panathinaikos AKTOR took a big double with 101-95 over Paris in the 10th round of the EuroLeague. Kenneth Farid literally came out of nowhere and was more than pivotal for the greens, scoring a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Besides the newly arrived center, Ergin Ataman saw Dino Mitoglou, TJ Shorts -especially in the finale- Kostas Sloukas and Kendrick Nunn do their job amazingly, for the greens to rise to 6-4 (3-1 home and 3-3 away) and return to victories after two consecutive negative results.
Justin Robinson and Nadir Hifi stood out for Paris, which fell to 4-6 (2-4 home and 2-2 away).
MVP
Dinos Mitoglou and Kenneth Farid will share this award. The tall Greek was unbeaten and scored 17 points (5/5 two-pointers, 1/1 three-pointers, 4/4 shots), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 foul, 1 block for 28 PIR in 21’38” of participation, while the American center - who came from Taiwan and had just one practice with his new team - had a great contribution on defense and offense with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks, staying on the court for 23’28”.
The stats that stood out
Panathinaikos had 8/13 three-pointers (61.5%) in the first half, but also 10/19 shots (52.6%). At the end of the game, the greens had 10 more second-chance points (4-14), 27 assists for 10 turnovers and 48% on three-pointers (12/25 shots).
The game
Panathinaikos entered the game with Shorts, Nunn, Osman, Juancho and Farid. The newly arrived American center impressed with the good morning, offering 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 foul, 2 blocks in 8’45″΄. However, Paris had a slim lead in the quarter (28-27, 10′), having 5/12 three-pointers.
With Sloukas entering the field, the clover dramatically increased its performance and found itself leading by up to 11 points (36-47, 15’45”). The Panathinaikos forward had 3/3 three-pointers and 5 assists, giving another dimension to his team’s game. The guests eventually went to the locker room having a 9-point lead (43-52, 20′) with 8/13 three-pointers (61.5%).
Paris reacted and brought the match to a draw (61-61, 26′), before passing with 63-61 (26’30”) with a basket by Ayagi. With a spectacular dunk by Farid, a three-pointer by Mitoglou and two pairs of shots by Sloukas and Mitoglou, the visitors overtook again (70-72, 29’22”). Robinson tied the score at 72-72 at the end of the third period.
Ouattara and Herrera each made two three-pointers for 84-79 at 32’15”. Farid and Mitoglou tied the game again (84-84, 33’42”). Sloukas had an assist and Juancho made a dunk for 84-86. Nan made a three-pointer for 87-91 at 36’45”. Shorts and Mitoglou made big baskets for 89-95 at 38’30”, with Panathinaikos embracing the victory.

Κόντρα σε όλα τα προβλήματα, κόντρα ίσως και στα προγνωστικά, ο Παναθηναϊκός AKTOR πήρε μεγάλο διπλό με 101-95 επί της Παρί στη 10η αγωνιστική της EuroLeague. Ο Κένεθ Φαρίντ ήρθε κυριολεκτικά από το πουθενά και ήταν κάτι παραπάνω από κομβικός για τους πράσινους, σημειώνοντας double-double με 17 πόντους και 10 ριμπάουντ.
Πέρα από τον νεοφερμένο σέντερ, ο Εργκίν Αταμάν είδε τους Ντίνο Μήτογλου, Τι Τζέι Σορτς -ιδίως στο φινάλε- Κώστα Σλούκα και Κέντρικ Ναν να κάνουν εκπληκτικά τη δουλειά τους, για να ανέβουν οι πράσινοι στο 6-4 (3-1 εντός και 3-3 εκτός έδρας) και να επιστρέψουν στις νίκες μετά από δύο συνεχόμενα αρνητικά αποτελέσματα.

Ο αγώνας
Ο Παναθηναϊκός μπήκε στο ματς με Σορτς, Ναν, Όσμαν, Χουάντσο και Φαρίντ. Ο νεοφερμένος Αμερικανός σέντερ εντυπωσίασε με το καλημέρα, προσφέροντας 7 πόντους, 3 ριμπάουντ, 1 ασίστ, 1 κλέψιμο, 1 λάθος, 2 μπλοκ σε 8’45″΄. Η Παρί είχε όμως ένα ισχνό προβάδισμα στο δεκάλεπτο (28-27, 10′), έχοντας 5/12 τρίποντα.
Με την είσοδο του Σλούκα στον αγωνιστικό χώρο, το τριφύλλι ανέβασε κατακόρυφα την απόδοσή του και βρέθηκα να προηγείται μέχρι και με 11 πόντους (36-47, 15’45”). Ο αργηγός του Παναθηναϊκού είχε 3/3 τρίποντα και 5 ασίστ, δίνοντας άλλη διάσταση στο παιχνίδι της ομάδας του. Οι φιλοξενούμενοι πήγαν τελικά στα αποδυτήρια έχοντας απόσταση 9 πόντων (43-52, 20′) με 8/13 τρίποντα (61.5%).
Η Παρί αντέδρασε και έφερε το ματς στα ίσια (61-61, 26′), προτού προσπεράσει με 63-61 (26’30”) με καλάθι του Αγιαγί.
