Σαν σε προπόνηση η ΑΕΚ, πέρασε από τη Ρίγα με χαρακτηριστική ευκολία (69-53) στην πρεμιέρα της στο Basketball Champions League.

Με νίκη στη Ρίγα, απέναντι στην τοπική ομάδα (69-53), ξεκίνησε το ταξίδι της στο Basketball Champions League της σεζόν 2025/26 η ΑΕΚ.

Η ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα δεν ενθουσίασε, ήταν όμως συμπαγής, ήταν αποτελεσματική στην άμυνα και πήρε με χαρακτηριστική άνεση το αποτέλεσμα στο γήπεδο που πριν από μερικές εβδομάδες η Εθνική Ελλάδας κατέκτησε το χάλκινο μετάλλιο στο EuroBasket 2025.

MVP των κιτρινόμαυρων ήταν ο Δημήτρης Κατσίβελης, με τον Ραϊκουάν Γκρέι να έχει οκτώ ασίστ, με τον Μιντάουγκας Κουζμίνσκας να δίνει λύσεις στην επίθεση και να καλύπτει το κακό βράδυ του Φρανκ Μπάρτλι που σκόραρε για πρώτη φορά στο 35′.

Ο Ζαχίρ Πόρτερ ήταν ο μόνος που προβλημάτισε την ΑΕΚ με το all-around παιχνίδι του, από εκεί και πέρα όμως οι γηπεδούχοι δεν έχουν πολλά να κρατήσουν από αυτή τη βραδιά. Δεν προηγήθηκαν ποτέ και έδειξαν ότι έχουν πολύ δρόμο να διανύσουν για να θεωρηθούν αξιόλογος αντίπαλος.
