Fernando Santos is being heavily criticized after Iceland's impressive victory over Azerbaijan, with a journalist going viral during the press conference.
The "heavy" 5-0 defeat by Iceland for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers is not going away in Azerbaijan. A result that has put Fernando Santos in a very difficult position.
The Portuguese coach of Azerbaijan was... fired upon by the General Secretary of the country's Federation, Jahangir Farajulayev, who indirectly but clearly... called on him to resign, however, Santos responded categorically that he is bound by a contract, which he has learned to respect.
However, what made a sensation at the press conference after the defeat by the Icelanders was a question from a journalist. Who in a very serious tone asked Santos if there was a direct flight from Iceland to Portugal, with the 70-year-old coach shaking his head in the negative!

Σφοδρή είναι η κριτική που ασκείται στον Φερνάντο Σάντος μετά την επιβλητική νίκη της Ισλανδίας επί των Αζέρων, με δημοσιογράφο να γίνεται viral στη συνέντευξη Τύπου.
Το φυσάνε και δεν κρυώνει στο Αζερμπαϊτζάν το «βαρύ» 5-0 από την Ισλανδία για τα προκριματικά του Μουντιάλ 2026. Αποτέλεσμα που έχει φέρει τον Φερνάντο Σάντος σε πολύ δύσκολη θέση.
Ο Πορτογάλος τεχνικός των Αζέρων δέχθηκε τα... πυρά του Γ.Γ. της Ομοσπονδίας της χώρας, Γιαχανγκίρ Φαραγιουλάγιεφ, που εμμέσως πλην σαφώς τον... κάλεσε σε παραίτηση, ωστόσο ο Σάντος απάντησε κατηγορηματικά ότι δεσμεύεται από συμβόλαιο, το οποίο και έχει μάθει να τηρεί.
Αυτό πάντως που έκανε αίσθηση στη συνέντευξη Τύπου μετά την ήττα από τους Ισλανδούς, ήταν ερώτηση δημοσιογράφου. Ο οποίος σε πολύ σοβαρό ύφος ρώτησε τον Σάντος εάν υπήρχε απευθείας πτήση από την Ισλανδία για την Πορτογαλία, με τον 70χρονο προπονητή να κουνάει αρνητικά το κεφάλι του!
