Nikolic: "We gave our opponents 'gifts' after the 0-2 - I have great faith in qualifying for Athens"

Marko Nikolic's statements after AEK's away draw against Aris Limassol, in the first match between them for the third qualifying round of the Conference League.

AEK and Aris Limassol left open... accounts on Thursday night (07/08) after the 2-2 draw in Cyprus, in the first match between them for the third qualifying round of the Conference League.

After the end of the match, the coach of "Enosi", Marko Nikolic, focused on the individual mistakes and the "gifts" as he described them that his team made after the 0-2 and lost the lead in the score, stating, however, that he is confident and optimistic about the rematch based on the image of his players for qualifying for the next round.

What he thinks went wrong for AEK and why they didn't win:

"We started the game very well, we scored the two goals and had a good chance for a third goal. Then what I said happened. We started giving "gifts" to the opponent. A deep ball on the offside line behind the defense that we conceded the first goal and after the set corner we conceded the other. Absolute concentration is needed, there should be no dead spaces. Unfortunately, even under these weather conditions with the heat and humidity, the kids did everything they could, they tried. It's a shame because we were playing at home, the fans supported us and in the end everything will be decided in Athens.

Aris Limassol changed the system compared to the previous matches. On a tactical and team level I don't think we had any issues, on an individual level they cost us. The big balls, the second balls that were lost and the counterattacks. The conditions were difficult, but with what I saw I have great faith for a positive result and qualification in Athens”.

Οι δηλώσεις του Μάρκο Νίκολιτς μετά την εκτός έδρας ισοπαλία της ΑΕΚ απέναντι στον Άρη Λεμεσού, στο πρώτο μεταξύ τους παιχνίδι για τον τρίτο προκριματικό γύρο του Conference League.

ΑΕΚ και Άρης Λεμεσού άφησαν ανοικτούς... λογαριασμούς το βράδυ της Πέμπτης (07/08) μετά και το 2-2 στην Κύπρο, στο πρώτο μεταξύ τους παιχνίδι για τον τρίτο προκριματικό γύρο του Conference League.

Μετά το τέλος του αγώνα, ο τεχνικός της «Ένωσης», Μάρκο Νίκολιτς, στάθηκε στα ατομικά λάθη και στα «δώρα» όπως τα χαρακτήρισε που έκανε η ομάδα του μετά το 0-2 και απώλεσε το προβάδισμα στο σκορ, δηλώνοντας πάντως σίγουρος και αισιόδοξος για τη ρεβάνς με βάση την εικόνα των παικτών του για την πρόκριση στον επόμενο γύρο.

Τι θεωρεί ότι δεν πήγε καλά για την ΑΕΚ και δεν πήρε τη νίκη:

«Ξεκινήσαμε πολύ καλά το παιχνίδι, βάλαμε τα δύο γκολ και είχαμε μια καλή ευκαιρία και για τρίτο τέρμα. Μετά έγινε αυτό που είχα πει. Αρχίσαμε να κάνουμε «δώρα» στον αντίπαλο. Μία βαθιά μπαλιά στην γραμμή του οφσάιντ στην πλάτη της άμυνας που δεχθήκαμε το πρώτο γκολ και μετά από το στημένο το κόρνερ δεχθήκαμε και το άλλο. Χρειάζεται απόλυτη συγκέντρωση, να μην υπάρχουν νεκρά διαστήματα. Δυστυχώς, και υπό αυτές τις καιρικές συνθήκες με τη ζέστη και την υγρασία, τα παιδιά έκαναν ό,τι μπορούσαν, προσπάθησαν. Κρίμα γιατί ήταν να να παίζαμε εντός έδρας, οι οπαδοί μας στήριξαν και τελικά όλα θα κριθούν στην Αθήνα.

Ο Άρης Λεμεσού άλλαξε το σύστημα σε σχέση με τα προηγούμενα ματς. Σε τακτικό και ομαδικό επίπεδο δεν πιστεύω ότι είχαμε κάποιο ζήτημα, στο ατομικό μας κόστισαν. Οι μεγάλες μπαλιές, οι δεύτερες μπάλες που χαθήκανε και οι αντεπιθέσεις. Ήταν δύσκολες οι συνθήκες, με αυτά που είδα όμως έχω μεγάλη πίστη για ένα θετικό αποτέλεσμα και πρόκριση στην Αθήνα».
