Panionios announces Oikonomopoulos

Sotiris Oikonomopoulos will play for Panionios next season, as announced on Friday by the “blue-red” KAE.

Sotiris Oikonomopoulos will be a Panionios player next season. The “blue-red” announced on Friday the acquisition of the 22-year-old guard, formerly of Olympiacos, Lavrio and Promithea Patras, for the next season, with the young ace becoming the sixth transfer of the Neosmyrniotes this summer season.

Oikonomopoulos split last season between Ermis Schimatariou of the Elite League and Patras.

In detail, the announcement:

“KAE Panionios announces that Sotiris Oikonomopoulos is joining the team’s dynamic team.

Sotiris Economopoulos was born on August 29, 2003 and is 1.91m tall. He plays as a guard and began his basketball career at Olympiacos and is Panionios' sixth transfer this year.

At the age of 17, he played for Olympiacos B' in the A2 division championship, where he made 5 appearances (2020-2021 season). The following season (2021-2022) he made 2 appearances with Olympiacos in the Greek Basketball League, winning both the championship and the Greek Cup.

In the 2022-2023 season, he was a member of Panerythraikos in the A2 division championship, where he averaged 7.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 34 games. That year he also set career highs in points (22), assists (6), rebounds (8) and three-pointers (4) in the game against FEA NF/NX.

The following season (2023-2024) he played both in the Greek Basketball League with Lavrio (1.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 8 minutes of participation) and in the Elite League with Psychiko (in 20 games he had 6.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20 minutes of participation).

Last year he started the season in the Elite League and specifically at Ermis Schimatariou (14 games - 17 minutes - 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists) and completed it at Promitheas Patras (9 games with 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 9 minutes on average).

In the summer of 2023 he was a member of the Greek U20 National Team that won the bronze medal at the European Championship in Heraklion, making excellent appearances. In 7 games he had 10.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals on average.

Στον Πανιώνιο θα αγωνιστεί την επόμενη σεζόν ο Σωτήρης Οικονομόπουλος, όπως ανακοίνωσε την Παρασκευή η «κυανέρυθρη» ΚΑΕ.

Παίκτη του Πανιώνιου θα αποτελεί την επόμενη σεζόν ο Σωτήρης Οικονομόπουλος. Οι «κυανέρυθροι» ανακοίνωσαν την Παρασκευή την απόκτηση του 22χρονου γκαρντ, πρώην των Ολυμπιακού, Λαυρίου και Προμηθεα Πάτρας, για την επόμενη σεζόν, με τον νεαρό άσο να αποτελεί την έκτη μεταγραφή των Νεοσμυρνιωτών την καλοκαιρινή σεζόν.

Ο Οικονομόπουλος την περυσινή σεζόν τη μοίρασε μεταξύ του Ερμή Σχηματαρίου της Elite League και των Πατρινών.

«Η ΚΑΕ Πανιώνιος ανακοινώνει ότι ο Σωτήρης Οικονομόπουλος εντάσσεται στο έμψυχο δυναμικό της ομάδας.

Ο Σωτήρης Οικονομόπουλος γεννήθηκε στις 29 Αυγούστου 2003 κι έχει ύψος 1,91μ. Αγωνίζεται ως guard κι άρχισε τη διαδρομή του στο μπάσκετ από τον Ολυμπιακό κι αποτελεί την έκτη φετινή μεταγραφική κίνηση του Πανιωνίου.

Στα 17 του χρόνια αγωνίστηκε με την ομάδα του Ολυμπιακού Β’ στο πρωτάθλημα της Α2 κατηγορίας, όπου κατέγραψε 5 συμμετοχές (σεζόν 2020-2021). Την επόμενη αγωνιστική περίοδο (2021-2022) είχε 2 συμμετοχές με τον Ολυμπιακό στην Greek Basketball League, κατακτώντας, μάλιστα, τόσο το πρωτάθλημα, όσο και το Κύπελλο Ελλάδας.

Την περίοδο 2022-2023 ήταν μέλος του Πανερυθραϊκού στο πρωτάθλημα της Α2 κατηγορίας, όπου είχε μέσο όρο 7,3 πόντους, 3,1 ριμπάουντ και 2,1 ασίστ σε 34 αναμετρήσεις. Εκείνη τη χρονιά έκανε και ρεκόρ καριέρας σε πόντους (22), ασίστ (6), ριμπάουντ (8) κι εύστοχα τρίποντα (4) στον αγώνα κόντρα στην ΦΕΑ ΝΦ/ΝΧ.

Την επόμενη σεζόν (2023-2024) αγωνίστηκε τόσο στην Greek Basketball League με το Λαύριο (1,4 πόντοι, 1,3 ριμπάουντ και 0,7 ασίστ σε 8 λεπτά συμμετοχής) όσο και στην Elite League με το Ψυχικό (σε 20 αγώνες είχε 6,9 πόντους, 2,7 ριμπάουντ και 1,2 ασίστ σε 20 λεπτά συμμετοχής).

Πέρυσι άρχισε τη σεζόν στην Elite League και συγκεκριμένα στον Ερμή Σχηματαρίου (14 αγώνες- 17 λεπτά- 3,1 πόντοι, 1,9 ριμπάουντ, 1,6 ασίστ) και την ολοκλήρωσε στον Προμηθέα Πάτρας (9 αγώνες με 1,9 πόντους, 1,1 ριμπάουντ και 0,8 ασίστ σε 9 λεπτά κατά μέσο όρο).

Το καλοκαίρι του 2023 ήταν μέλος της Εθνικής Ελλάδας U20 που κατέκτησε το χάλκινο μετάλλιο στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα στο Ηράκλειο, πραγματοποιώντας εξαιρετικές εμφανίσεις. Σε 7 αγώνες είχε 10,7 πόντους, 4,1 ριμπάουντ, 3,1 ασίστ και 1,1 κλεψίματα κατά μέσο όρο.
