With Alexandros Nanopoulos and Stavros Kasambalis on an excellent day, the Greek National Team took its fourth consecutive victory in the European Golden League with a 3-1 set victory (25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 22-25) over Latvia, remaining at the top of the standings.

A match in which the "blue and white" made a turnaround in the score, after finding themselves losing by 1-0 sets. Stavros Kasambalis was decisive, who advanced to the second set and Nanopoulos - Raptis with 17 and 16 points respectively.

The match

In the first set of the match, the team of Kostas Christofidelis went point by point with the Latvians until 15-15. There, the Greek National Team made a small leap and with a 4-0 run took a lead of 15-19. Vasiliev called a time-out, regrouped his team and with a terrible turnaround, the Latvians won the first set with 25-23.

In the second set, the hosts had control of the game throughout, with our National Team constantly being a breath away. Alexandros Raptis made it 22-23, however, the Latvians tied again with a block out by Mendenis. The Latvians' wrong serve gave the Greeks a set point and after a shocking point Raptis with a block out achieved 1-1 in the sets.

With Alexandros Nanopoulos in high spirits in the third set, the National Team stepped on the gas and did not look back for a moment. Catching an excellent performance, they quickly reached the conquest with 17-25.

In the fourth and final set, the Latvians, starring Jansons, took an 8-5 lead. However, with a counterattack and three points from Thanasis Protopsaltis, the National Team of Greece went ahead with 8-10. Latvia tied again at 12-12, which did not affect the National Team of Greece at all as with Raptis and Nanopoulos they escaped with 13-16. Vasiliev's set quickly tied at 17-17 and from there on the two teams went hand in hand until the final. Where the absolute protagonist of the game Alexandros Nanopoulos with personal points closed the set with 22-25 and gave the victory to the Greek National Team.

Έχοντας σε εξαιρετική ημέρα τον Αλέξανδρο Νανόπουλο και τον Σταύρο Κασαμπαλή, η Εθνική Ελλάδας πήρε την τέταρτη διαδοχική της νίκη στο European Golden League με 3-1 σετ (25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 22-25) επί της Λετονίας, παραμένοντας στην κορυφή της βαθμολογίας.

Ένα ματς στο οποίο η «γαλανόλευκη» πραγματοποίησε ανατροπή στο σκορ, αφού βρέθηκε να χάνει με 1-0 σετ. Καθοριστικός ήταν ο Σταύρος Κασαμπαλής, ο οποίος πέρασε στο δεύτερο σετ και οι Νανόπουλος - Ράπτης με 17 και 16 πόντους αντίστοιχα.

Ο αγώνας

Στο πρώτο σετ της αναμέτρησης το σύνολο του Κώστα Χριστοφιδέλη πήγαινε πόντο – πόντο με τους Λετονούς μέχρι και το 15-15. Εκεί η Εθνική Ελλάδος έκανε ένα μικρό ξεπέταγμα και με σερί 4-0 πήρε προβάδισμα 15-19. Ο Βασίλιεφ κάλεσε τάιμ – άουτ ανασυγκρότησε την ομάδα του και με τρομερή ανατροπή οι Λετονοί κατέκτησαν το πρώτο σετ με 25-23.

Στο δεύτερο σετ οι γηπεδούχοι είχαν καθ όλη τη διάρκεια του, τον έλεγχο του παιχνιδιού με την Εθνική μας να βρίσκεται συνεχώς μία ανάσα μακριά. Ο Αλέξανδρος Ράπτης έκανε το 22-23 ωστόσο οι Λετονοί με μπλοκ άουτ του Μεντένις ισοφάρισαν εκ νέου. Το λάθος σερβίς των Λετονών έδωσε σετ ποίντ στους Έλληνες και ύστερα από έναν συγκλονιστικό πόντο ο Ράπτης με μπλοκ άουτ πέτυχε το 1-1 στα σετ.

Με τον Αλέξανδρο Νανόπουλο σε μεγάλα κέφια στο τρίτο σετ η Εθνική πάτησε γκάζι και δεν κοίταξε στιγμή πίσω της. Πιάνοντας εξαιρετική απόδοση έφτασε γρήγορα στην κατάκτηση του με 17-25.

Στο τέταρτο και τελευταίο σετ οι Λετονοί με πρωταγωνιστή τον Γιάνσονς πήραν προβάδισμα με 8-5. Με αντεπίθεση όμως και τρεις πόντους από τον Θανάση Πρωτοψάλτη η Εθνική Ελλάδος πέρασε μπροστά με 8-10. Η Λετονία ισοφάρισε εκ νέου σε 12-12 κάτι που δεν επηρέασε καθόλου την Εθνική Ελλάδος καθώς με Ράπτη και Νανόπουλο ξέφυγαν με 13-16. Το σύνολο του Βασίλιεφ ισοφάρισε γρήγορα σε 17-17 και από εκεί και έπειτα οι δύο ομάδες πήγαιναν χέρι – χέρι μέχρι και το φινάλε. Εκεί όπου ο απόλυτος πρωταγωνιστής του παιχνιδιού Αλέξανδρος Νανόπουλος με προσωπικούς πόντους έκλεισε το σετ με 22-25 κι έδωσε τη νίκη στην Εθνική Ελλάδος.
