AEK - Brighton 0-1

AEK gave everything against Brighton, they had huge chances and a goal with Zuber-Gacsinovic, but another penalty gave the victory to the English (0-1). In Amsterdam for the Conference League now the Union.

The duo of Zuber and Mandalou in AEK's attack with the Swiss at the top was maintained by Matias Almeida against Brighton. The score remained 0-0 after 15 minutes of play with AEK going through... Brighton's good start was bloodless with Union threatening again in the 17th minute. It was Amrabad's sweet cross, Pineda got the header, but it lacked power and ended up in the hands of Verbruggen.

He put it... in the net, but the ball didn't go in

After 15' it was obvious that AEK had raised the intensity and arrived with greater claims in the frames of the "seagulls". And in the 18th minute, Almeida's team had a double chance. Hadjisafi took the turn, Gacinovic crossed, the ball went against Dunk, Pineda executed with the Brighton keeper blocking. To have a new good moment in the 21st minute with an individual effort and a shot by "Gatsi".

Now the match was fully balanced at a pace that is hard to see in the Greek league with AEK controlling the game and threatening.

And in the 30th minute, within a few seconds, AEK saw Tzumber threatening to score. Mandalos stole the ball, served to the Swiss who shot with the Brighton keeper deflecting for a corner. Corner taken by Hadjisafi with Zuber getting the header and the ball goes just wide.

For a new exclamation to come for the fans of AEK in the 35th minute in Pineda's attack and shot. 0-0 remained with AEK putting Brighton in the net but not the ball. In the 44th minute, Szymanski stole the ball, Zuber made a magical effort and shot with the ball hitting the post and Gacinovic not being able to send the ball into the net in the rebound. So the half ended with 0-0 which was clearly not reflected in the image of the two teams inside the stadium.

English lead with a penalty against the flow of the match

At the start of the second half, the two teams started without changes, with AEK coming out with a good 25-minute lead in the first 45 minutes. And in the 51st minute, AEK once again made it 1-0. Mandalos burst onto the counter after an excellent ball from Rota, served with a "clear mind" almost in the semi-circle with Gacinovic catching the one-piece shot and Verbruggen clearing with one hand.

And in the 54th minute, the facts changed for AEK, who in yet another match in the group "gave" a penalty to an opponent, the 6th in particular. Simanski overthrew Joao Pedro, the referee Sherrer indicated "you are playing", the VAR called him and the Swiss made an on field review and showed a bullet, with the Brazilian hitting the mark in the 55th minute and making it 0-1.

Football was unfair to AEK who put on an excellent performance, but now their backs were against the wall. Now the Union was called upon to "reply" against a Brighton team that was very logical to get the better of them, since they took the lead completely against the flow of the match. And things got even more difficult in the 65th minute with the sending off of Gacinovic who saw the second yellow card leaving AEK with 10 players.

AEK's soul testified, but...

0-1 remained, AEK played with 10 players and Almeida played everything for everything...

In the 71st minute, "Pelado" threw Ponce, Araujo and Eliasson into the match instead of Zuber, Mandalu and Amrabat. In the 73', Stankovic kept AEK upright in the four-four with Ferguson, so that the big moment for AEK came in the 74'. Araujo he made a ball-hole to Pineda who made a diagonal shot with the ball just going wide.

Despite playing with 10 players, AEK did not lower the intensity. He pressed as hard as he could and was looking for the equalizing goal against a Brighton team that, despite having a numerical advantage, "locked" the match. And in the 90' it was Vida's turn to threaten with a header after Eliasson's cross. Was 0-1 supposed to be the final result of the match in New Philadelphia or not? In the end, the answer was affirmative, with Brighton winning 0-1, securing qualification and AEK going to the 3rd place "final" with Ajax in Amsterdam.

Η ΑΕΚ τα έδωσε όλα κόντρα στην Μπράιτον, είχε τεράστιες ευκαιρίες και δοκάρι με Τσούμπερ-Γκατσίνοβιτς, όμως ακόμη ένα πέναλτι έδωσε τη νίκη στους Άγγλους (0-1). Στο Άμστερνταμ για το Conference League τώρα η Ένωση.

Το δίδυμο των Τσούμπερ και Μάνταλου στην επίθεση της ΑΕΚ με τον Ελβετό στην κορυφή διατήρησε ο Ματίας Αλμέιδα κόντρα στην Μπράιτον. Ο Στάνκοβιτς ήταν φυσικά στην εστία, δεξιά στην άμυνα επέστρεψε ο Ρότα, ο Χατζισαφί ξεκίνησε αριστερά, όπως και ο Μουκουντί με τον Βίντα στο κέντρο της αμυντικής γραμμής. Όπως αναμενόταν ο Πινέδα έπαιξε μαζί με τον Σιμάνσκι στον άξονα, με τον Γκατσίνοβιτς στην αριστερή πλευρά και τον Άμραμπατ στη δεξιά.

Ήταν ένα ματς «Right here, right now», όπως λέει και η επιτυχία του πλέον γνωστού οπαδού της Μπράιτον, του δημοφιλούς Fat Boy Slim, τόσο για την ΑΕΚ όσο και για την αγγλική ομάδα. Και η Ένωση ήταν αποφασισμένη να τα δώσει όλα κόντρα στους «γλάρους», τους οποίους οι «κιτρινόμαυροι» είχαν φροντίσει να σοκάρουν στην πρεμιέρα των ομίλων του Europa League.

Η Μπράιτον μπήκε δυνατά και μόλις στο 2' ο Τσίτσαν Στάνκοβιτς χρειάστηκε να επιστρατεύσει τα ρεφλέξ του για να διώξει σε κόρνερ το σουτ του Έβαν Φέργκιουσον για να έρθει στο 7' το ολέθριο λάθος σε γύρισμα του Βίντα στον Στάνκοβιτς, με τον Αυστριακό να διώχνει την τελευταία στιγμή να καρδιοχτυπήσει την Ένωση.

Ήταν εμφανές πως η Μπράιτον πατούσε καλύτερα απειλώντας στο 10' εκ νέου με ατομική προσπάθεια και σουτ του Αντινγκρά. Η Μπράιτον μετρούσε τρεις καλές στιγμές στο δεκάλεπτο με την ΑΕΚ να κάνει αισθητή την παρουσία της δημιουργικά στο 13' με το σουτ του Πινέδα που πέρασε άουτ.

Το 0-0 παρέμενε με τη συμπλήρωση 15 λεπτών αγώνα με την ΑΕΚ να περνά... αναίμακτα το καλό ξεκίνημα της Μπράιτον με την Ένωση να απειλεί εκ νέου στο 17'. Ήταν η γλυκιά σέντρα του Άμραμπατ, ο Πινέδα πήρε την κεφαλιά, αλλά αυτή δεν είχε δύναμη με αποτέλεσμα να καταλήγει στα χέρια του Φερμπρούγκεν.

Την έβαλε... στα δίχτυα, αλλά δεν μπήκε η μπάλα

Μετά το 15' ήταν εμφανές πως η ΑΕΚ είχε ανεβάσει ένταση και έφθανε με μεγαλύτερες αξιώσεις στα καρέ των «γλάρων». Και στο 18' η ομάδα του Αλμέιδα είχε διπλή στιγμή. Ο Χατζισαφί έκανε το γύρισμα, ο Γκατσίνοβιτς πλάσαρε, η μπάλα κόντραρε στον Ντανκ, ο Πινέδα εκτέλεσε με τον κίπερ της Μπράιτον να μπλοκάρει. Για να έχει στο 21' νέα καλή στιγμή με ατομική προσπάθεια και σουτ του «Γκάτσι».

Πλέον το ματς ήταν πλήρως ισορροπημένο σε έναν ρυθμό που δύσκολα βλέπει κανείς στο ελληνικό πρωτάθλημα με την ΑΕΚ να ελέγχει το παιχνίδι και να απειλεί. 

Και στο 30' μέσα σε διάστημα λίγων δευτερολέπτων η ΑΕΚ είδε τον Τσούμπερ να απειλεί δις. Ο Μάνταλος έκλεψε την μπάλα, σέρβιρε στον Ελβετό που σούταρε με τον πορτιέρε της Μπράιτον να διώχνει σε κόρνερ. Κόρνερ που εκτελέστηκε από τον Χατζισαφί με τον Τσούμπερ να παίρνει τη γυριστή κεφαλιά και την μπάλα να περνά μόλις άουτ. 

Για να έρθει νέο επιφώνημα για τους οπαδούς της ΑΕΚ στο 35' σε επέλαση και σουτ του Πινέδα. Το 0-0 παρέμενε με την ΑΕΚ να βάζει την Μπράιτον στα δίχτυα αλλά όχι την μπάλα. Στο 44' ο Σιμάνσκι έκλεψε την μπάλα, ο Τσούμπερ έκανε μαγική ενέργεια και σουτ με την μπάλα να τραντάζει το δοκάρι και τον Γκατσίνοβιτς να μην μπορεί στην επαναφορά να στείλει την μπάλα στα δίχτυα. Έτσι το ημίχρονο έληγε με το 0-0 που σαφέστατα δεν αντικατοπτριζόταν στην εικόνα των δύο ομάδων μέσα στο γήπεδο.

Αγγλικό προβάδισμα με πέναλτι κόντρα στη ροή του ματς

Με την έναρξη του β' μέρους οι δύο ομάδες ξεκίνησαν χωρίς αλλαγές με την ΑΕΚ να βγαίνει με τη φόρα του καλού 25λεπτου στο πρώτο 45λεπτο. Και στο 51' η ΑΕΚ άγγιξε για ακόμη μία φορά το 1-0. Ο Μάνταλος ξεχύθηκε στην κόντρα μετά από εξαιρετική μπαλιά του Ρότα, σέρβιρε με «καθαρό μυαλό» σχεδόν στο ημικύκλιο με τον Γκατσίνοβιτς να πιάνει το μονοκόμματο σουτ και τον Φερμπρούγκεν να διώχνει με το ένα χέρι. 

Και στο 54' τα δεδομένα άλλαξαν για την ΑΕΚ που σε ακόμη ένα ματς στον όμιλο «έδωσε» πέναλτι σε αντίπαλο, το 6ο συγκεκριμένα. Ο Σιμάνσκι ανέτρεψε τον Ζοάο Πέδρο, ο ρέφερι Σέρερ έδειξε «παίζετε», ο VAR τον κάλεσε και ο Ελβετός κάνοντας on field review έδειξε βούλα, με τον Βραζιλιάνο να ευστοχεί στο 55' και να κάνει το 0-1.

Το ποδόσφαιρο αδικούσε την ΑΕΚ που έκανε εξαιρετική εμφάνιση, αλλά πλέον βρισκόταν με την πλάτη στον τοίχο. Πλέον η Ένωση καλούνταν να «απαντήσει» απέναντι σε μία Μπράιτον που ήταν πολύ λογικό να πάρει τα «πάνω» της, αφού πήρε προβάδισμα απολύτως κόντρα στη ροή του ματς. Και τα πράγματα έγιναν ακόμη πιο δύσκολα στο 65' με την αποβολή του Γκατσίνοβιτς που αντίκρισε τη δεύτερη κίτρινη κάρτα αφήνοντας την ΑΕΚ με 10 παίκτες.

Κατέθεσε η ψυχή η ΑΕΚ, αλλά...

Το 0-1 παρέμενε, η ΑΕΚ έπαιζε με 10 παίκτες και ο Αλμέιδα τα έπαιξε όλα για όλα...

Στο 71', λοιπόν, ο «Pelado» έριξε στο ματς Πόνσε, Αραούχο και Ελίασον αντί των Τσούμπερ, Μάνταλου και Άμραμπατ. Στο 73΄ο Στάνκοβιτς κράτησε όρθια την ΑΕΚ στο τετ α τετ με τον Φέργκιουσον για να έρθει στο 74' η μεγάλη στιγμή της ΑΕΚ. Ο Αραούχο έκανε μπαλιά-τρύπα στον Πινέδα που έκανε το διαγώνιο σουτ με την μπάλα να περνά μόλις άουτ.

Η ΑΕΚ παρότι έπαιζε με 10 παίκτες δεν κατέβαζε ένταση. Πίεζε όσο μπορούσε και έψαχνε το γκολ της ισοφάρισης απέναντι σε μία Μπράιτον που παρότι είχε αριθμητικό πλεονέκτημα να «κλειδώσει» το ματς. Και στο 90' ήταν η σειρά του Βίντα με κεφαλιά έπειτα από σέντρα του Ελίασον να απειλήσει. Το 0-1 έμελλε να είναι το τελικό αποτέλεσμα της αναμέτρησης στη Νέα Φιλαδέλφεια ή μήπως όχι; Εν τέλει η απάντηση ήταν καταφατική, με την Μπράιτον να επικρατεί με 0-1, να κλειδώνει την πρόκριση και την ΑΕΚ να πηγαίνει για «τελικό» 3ης θέσης με τον Άγιαξ στο Άμστερνταμ.
