Dimitrov - Tsitsipas 0-3: Qualifying for the "8" at Roland Garros (vids)
Stefanos Tsitsipas prevailed 6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-2 over Grigor Dimitrov and will play for the first time in his career in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is writing history in Paris after qualifying for the quarterfinals of Roland Garros for the first time in his career.
The Greek tennis player (No6) prevailed in 2.26 'with 6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-2 of the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (No20) and will play in Wednesday's quarterfinal with Andrei Rublev who eliminated with a reversal with 6 -7 (4), 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 (3) by Marton Fucovic.
For Stefanos Tsitsipas, this will be his 2nd quarterfinal in Grand Slam after he had played in the 2019 Australian Open and eliminated Roberto Bautista Agut to play in the semifinal with Rafa Nadal.
Of course, Stefanos Tsitsipas is the first Greek to play in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros.
Stefanos Tsitsipas now has 2/4 qualification in 4th round matches in Grand Slam after in 2019 he had beaten Roger Federer while he has been defeated by Stan Wawrinka and John Isner.
The points were 115-90. Stefanos Tsitsipas had 30 effortless, 24 winners and 3/12 break points and Grigor Dimitrov had 53-22 and 0/3. The Greek had 71% in the 2nd serve.
Impressive start
In the 1st set, Stefanos Tsitsipas started great with a break in the 2nd game (2-0) and with a love service game he will reach 3-0.
In the 4th game, the Bulgarian will erase a double break point to reduce it to 3-1, but the Greek will easily reach 4-1 with his strong 1st serve.
With an ace Dimitrov will close the 6th game (4-2) but Tsitsipas with a love service game will reach 5-2.
In the 9th game, Tsitsipas will clear 3 break points, will reach match points and with an out return by Dimitrov will close the set at 6-3.
Dimitrov went up, Tsitsipas endured
With his serve, Dimitrov will reach 2-1.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will have 3 break points in the 5th game but the Bulgarian will not "eat" a break and will lead 3-2 and then 4-3. With difficulty Dimitrov will win the 9th (5-4) and the Greek will equalize at 5-5.
With a love service game, Dimitrov will reach 6-5 but Tsitsipas will send the set to the tiebreak.
The thriller at break point
There Tsitsipas with a mini break will reach 3-0, Dimitrov will take back the mini break, but Tsitsipas will reach a set point (6-5). The Bulgarian will erase it (6-6), he will erase it 2nd (7-7) but Tsitsipas will also erase his own set of points (8-8).
Tsitsipas will erase and his opponent's 2nd set point will reach the 3rd set point and in 17 'the tie break will end with 11-9.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς επικράτησε με 6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-2 του Γκριγκόρ Ντιμιτρόφ και θα παίξει για πρώτη φορά στην καριέρα του σε προημιτελικό στο Roland Garros.
Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς γράφει ιστορία στο Παρίσι αφού για πρώτη φορά στην καριέρα του προκρίθηκε στον προημιτελικό του Roland Garros.
Ο Έλληνας τενίστας (Νο6) επικράτησε σε 2.26' με 6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-2 του Βούλγαρου Γκριγκόρ Ντιμιτρόφ (Νο20) και θα παίξει στον προημιτελικό της Τετάρτης με τον Αντρέι Ρούμπλεφ ο οποίος απέκλεισε με ανατροπή με 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 (3) τον Μάρτον Φούτσοβιτς.
Για τον Στέφανο Τσιτσιπά αυτός θα είναι ο 2ος προημιτελικός του σε Grand Slam αφού το 2019 στο Australian Open είχε παίξει και απέκλεισε τον Ρομπέρτο Μπαουτίστα Αγκούτ για να παίξει στον ημιτελικό με τον Ράφα Ναδάλ.
Φυσικά ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς είναι ο πρώτος Έλληνας που θα παίξει στα προημιτελικά του Roland Garros.
Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς έχει πλέον 2/4 προκρίσεις σ' αγώνες 4ου γύρου σε Grand Slam αφού το 2019 είχε κερδίσει τον Ρότζερ Φέντερερ ενώ έχει ηττηθεί από τον Σταν Βαβρίνκα και τον Τζον Ίσνερ.

Εντυπωσιακό ξεκίνημα
Στο 1ο σετ ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς ξεκίνησε σπουδαία με μπρέικ στο 2ο γκέιμ (2-0) και με love service game θα φτάσει στο 3-0.
Στο 4ο γκέιμ ο Βούλγαρος θα σβήσει διπλό μπρέικ πόιντ για να μειώσει σε 3-1 αλλά ο Έλληνας εύκολα θα φτάσει με το δυνατό 1ο σερβίς του στο 4-1.
Με άσο ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα κλείσει το 6ο γκέιμ (4-2) αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς με love service game θα φτάσει στο 5-2.
Στο 9ο γκέιμ ο Τσιτσιπάς θα σβήσει 3 μπρέικ πόιντ , θα φτάσει σε ματς πόιντ και με άουτ επιστροφή του Ντιμιτρόφ θα κλείσει το σετ στο 6-3.
Ανέβηκε ο Ντιμιτρόφ, άντεξε ο Τσιτσιπάς
Με το σερβίς του ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα φτάσει στο 2-1.
Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς θα έχει 3 μπρέικ πόιντ στο 5ο γκέιμ αλλά ο Βούλγαρος δεν θα "φάει" μπρέικ και θα προηγηθεί με 3-2 και εν συνεχεία με 4-3. Με δυσκολία ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα κερδίσει το 9ο (5-4) και ο Έλληνας θα ισοφαρίσει σε 5-5.
Με love service game ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα φτάσει στο 6-5 αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς θα στείλει το σετ στο τάι μπρέικ.
Το θρίλερ στο μπρέικ πόιντ
Εκεί ο Τσιτσιπάς με μίνι μπρέικ θα φτάσει στο 3-0, ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα πάρει πίσω το μίνι μπρέικ, αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς θα φτάσει σε σετ πόιντ (6-5). Ο Βούλγαρος θα το σβήσει (6-6),θα σβήσει και 2ο (7-7) αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς θα σβήσει και δικό του σετ πόιντ (8-8).
Ο Τσιτσιπάς θα σβήσει και αυτός το 2ο σετ πόιντ του αντιπάλου του θα φτάσει σε 3ο σετ πόιντ και σε 17' θα τελειώσει το τάι μπρέικ με 11-9.
Αξίζει να σημειώσουμε ότι στο 1ο σετ τα αβίαστα λάθη ήταν 14-4 (Ντιμιτρόφ) και μετά από το τέλους του 2ου έχουμε φτάσει στο 35-23!
Άνετος και νικητής
Στο 3ο σετ ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς με μπρέικ θα φτάσει στο 2-0 και εν συνεχεία στο 3-0. Ο Ντιμιτρόφ θα σβήσει διπλό μπρέικ πόιντ στο 4ο γκέιμ και θα μειώσει σε 3-1.
Θα σβήσει νέο μπρέικ πόιντ στο 6ο γκέιμ ο Βούλγαρος για το 4-2 αλλά ο Τσιτσιπάς θα φτάσει στο 5-2 και θα τελειώσει στο 6-2.
