Μπερτομέου: «Ο Παναθηναϊκός θα μείνει μαζί μας όπως έκανε τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια»

Bertomeou: "Panathinaikos will stay with us as it has done for the last 20 years"

The belief that Panathinaikos will remain in the Euroleague was expressed by Jordi Bertomeu, who pointed out that whichever team plays in this event, is also in the elite.

Jordi Bertomeu gave an interview on a website in Serbia (maxibetsports.rs). The CEO of the Euroleague spoke about the decision taken to cancel the season, referring to the two options that fell on the table.

At the same time, he revealed that there is the common will of Euroleague-Cologne for the organization of the Final Four of the next season, while he took a position on a possible departure of Panathinaikos from the organization.

Asked about Panathinaikos' thoughts on leaving the Euroleague, Bertomeu commented that "this is not the first time that something like this has come from Athens and Panathinaikos. There are rumors, but nothing can be said officially, that the club is leaving the Euroleague. In a hypothetical case, there is a process and I believe that the clubs know that their future outside the Euroleague will not be the brightest. When you're in the Euroleague, you're part of the elite. You play the best games. I believe that Panathinaikos will stay with us, as it has been with us for these 20 years ".

Regarding the venue of the Final Four, he said: "We would like to do the Final Four in Cologne next season. We worked for a long time to fix it. We are talking to the city and I am optimistic that we will go to Cologne. It is not yet official, but there is mutual will. As for Belgrade, the city was a great hostess. I want to thank everyone in Serbia who offered to help us finish the season. If the season went on, we would probably play in Serbia. We enjoyed the Final Four a few years ago in Belgrade and I'm pretty sure Belgrade will once again be the city to host the Final Four because it's worth it. "

In addition, he mentioned the two options that fell on the table, regarding the future of this season. "We had two options. The first was to end the season with the participation of all the teams, but on the condition that we would finish by June, so that we could start the next season without any problems. Another option was to end the season as it did. There were no intermediate options other than these two. When it became clear that the teams were in different situations, as far as the pandemic was concerned, they could not all travel without problems to prepare. The situation was specific in Russia, where there was no sign of a reduction in the pandemic. In such circumstances, the only possible proposal was the final of the season ".

The CEO of the event also spoke about Partizan, explaining that "I think it is clear that Partizan has done a great job in the last two years. The new president explained to me that the team is complete and I understand the frustration that may exist in the club, but also in the world, because the season was great, but due to the conditions we mentioned they cannot reach the initial goals. However, I believe that Anantolou Efes' friends have the same feeling ".

Τη πεποίθηση πως ο Παναθηναϊκός θα παραμείνει στην Euroleague εξέφρασε ο Τζόρντι Μπερτομέου, ο οποίος επεσήμανε πως όποια ομάδα αγωνίζεται στην εν λόγω διοργάνωση, βρίσκεται και στην ελίτ.
Συνέντευξη σε ιστοσελίδα της Σερβίας (maxibetsports.rs) παραχώρησε ο Τζόρντι Μπερτομέου. Ο CEO της Euroleague μίλησε για την απόφαση που πάρθηκε για ακύρωση της σεζόν, αναφερόμενος στις δύο επιλογές που έπεσαν στο τραπέζι.

Παράλληλα, αποκάλυψε πως υπάρχει η κοινή θέληση Euroleague-Κολωνίας για την διοργάνωση του Final Four της επόμενης σεζόν, ενώ πήρε θέση για ενδεχόμενη αποχώρηση του Παναθηναϊκού από την διοργάνωση.

Σε ερώτηση σχετικά με τις σκέψεις του Παναθηναϊκού να φύγει από την Euroleague ο Μπερτομέου σχολίασε ότι «δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που κάτι τέτοιο έρχεται από την Αθήνα και τον Παναθηναϊκό. Είναι φήμες, αλλά δεν μπορεί να ειπωθεί κάτι επίσημο, ότι ο σύλλογος φεύγει από την Euroleague. Σε μια υποθετική περίπτωση, υπάρχει μια διαδικασία και πιστεύω πως οι σύλλογοι γνωρίζουν ότι το μέλλον τους εκτός Euroleague δεν θα είναι και το πιο λαμπρό. Όταν είσαι στην Euroleeague, είσαι μέρος της ελίτ. Παίζεις τα καλύτερα παιχνίδια. Θεωρώ πως ο Παναθηναϊκός θα μείνει μαζί μας, όπως ήταν μαζί μας αυτά τα 20 χρόνια».

Όσον αφορά το μέρος που θα διεξαχθεί το Final Four της διοργάνωσης τόνισε: «Θα θέλαμε να κάνουμε το Final Four στην Κολωνία την επόμενη σεζόν. Δουλέψαμε για πολύ καιρό για να το φτιάξουμε. Μιλάμε με την πόλη και είμαι αισιόδοξος ότι θα πάμε στη Κολωνία. Δεν είναι ακόμα κάτι επίσημο, αλλά υπάρχει αμοιβαία θέληση. Όσο για το Βελιγράδι, η πόλη ήταν μια εξαιρετική οικοδέσποινα. Θέλω να ευχαριστήσω άπαντες στη Σερβία που προσφέρθηκαν να μας βοηθήσουν να ολοκληρώσουμε τη σεζόν. Εάν συνεχιζόταν η σεζόν, πιθανότατα θα παίζαμε στη Σερβία. Απολαύσαμε το Final Four πριν από μερικά χρόνια στο Βελιγράδι και είμαι απόλυτα σίγουρος πως το Βελιγράδι θα είναι και πάλι η πόλη που θα οργανώσει Final Four γιατί το αξίζει».

Επιπλέον, αναφέρθηκε και στις δύο επιλογές που έπεσαν στο τραπέζι, όσον αφορά το μέλλον της φετινής σεζόν. «Είχαμε δύο επιλογές. Η πρώτη ήταν να τελειώσει η σεζόν με τη συμμετοχή όλων των ομάδων, αλλά με την προϋπόθεση ότι θα τελειώναμε μέχρι τον Ιούνιο, ώστε να ξεκινήσουμε την επόμενη σεζόν χωρίς προβλήματα. Άλλη επιλογή ήταν να τελειώσει η σεζόν έτσι, όπως και τελικά συνέβη. Δεν υπήρχαν ενδιάμεσες επιλογές, εκτός από αυτές τις δύο. Όταν έγινε σαφές ότι οι ομάδες βρίσκονται σε διαφορετικές καταστάσεις, όσον αφορά την πανδημία, δεν μπορούσαν να ταξιδέψουν όλες χωρίς προβλήματα για να προετοιμαστούν. Η κατάσταση ήταν συγκεκριμένη στη Ρωσία, όπου δεν υπήρχε ένδειξη μείωσης της πανδημίας. Σε τέτοιες συνθήκες, η μόνη πιθανή πρόταση ήταν το φινάλε της σεζόν».

Ο CEO της διοργάνωσης τοποθετήθηκε και για την Παρτιζάν, εξηγώντας ότι «πιστεύω ότι είναι σαφές πως η Παρτιζάν έχει κάνει σοβαρή δουλειά τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια. Ο νέος πρόεδρος μού εξήγησε ότι η ομάδα είναι πλήρης και καταλαβαίνω την απογοήτευση που μπορεί να υπάρχει στον σύλλογο, αλλά και στον κόσμο, επειδή η σεζόν ήταν εξαιρετική, αλλά λόγω των συνθηκών που αναφέραμε δεν μπορούν να φτάσουν στους αρχικούς στόχους. Ωστόσο πιστεύω ότι και οι φίλοι της Αναντολού Εφές έχουν το ίδιο συναίσθημα».
