Σύμφωνα με έγκυρο, στα θέματα των «κανονιέρηδων», δημοσιογράφο του BBC, οι Λονδρέζοι βρίσκονται σε επαφές με τον Ελβετό δεξιό μπακ για συνεργασία από τη νέα σεζόν. 

Ο 34χρονος άσος αποχωρεί από τη Γιουβέντους, στην οποία αγωνίζεται από το 2011 και η ομάδα του Ουνάι Έμερι θέλει να «επενδύσει» στην εμπειρία και την προσωπικότητά του, αν και βέβαια στη θέση του υπάρχει ο «βασικός» Μπεγερίν.
