Σχεδόν σε όλη την διάρκεια του αγώνα παρακολουθούσε τις προσπάθειες των συμπαικτών του από τις σουίτες του Σαντιάγκο Μπερναμπέου χαμογελαστός με την παρέα του. Ο Ισπανός είχε τιμωρηθεί για τον επόμενο ευρωπαϊκό αγώνα της Ρεάλ  απέναντι στην Σεβίλη για το Super Cup.
